Craig sentenced for using counterfeit money

Daniel D. Craig, 32, Jennings County, has been sentenced for trying to pass counterfeit money. On October 4 the defendant appeared in Ripley County Superior Court. Deputy Prosecutor Shane Tucker represented the State in the matter.

Don’t miss Robin McNamara and The Headliner Band

The Osgood Kiwanis is proud to offer a “groovy” fundraiser concert, open to the public, on October 20, at the St. Florian Reception Center in Osgood. Robin McNamara and The Headliner Band will perform their concept rock show, “Stuck in the ’60’s,” an experience of classic rock and roll, a psychedelic light show, and dancing.

Holton thankful for grant money

“It’s going well,” Mike Swango reported of the Storm Sewer Project that is underway in Holton. He was referring to the progress made and the fact that the contractor, Roy Holman, assured them paving the roads would be in just a couple of weeks. This project was made possible through grant money.

Playground equipment is in sight for Milan park

Milan patrons heard more good news from park board members at the Oct. 9 Milan Town Council meeting as president Debby Schumate reported for the month. With all three town board members present, council listened as Schumate reviewed advances being made on the park’s new playground equipment project.

ISP Lt. Gross graduates from FBI Academy

Two hundred and twenty-four law enforcement officers, including Indiana State Police Lt. Delmer Gross, graduated September 15 from the FBI National Academy Program at Quantico, Virginia. The 269th Session of the National Academy consisted of men and women from 48 states. Included in the class are members of law enforcement agencies from the District of Columbia, 22 international countries, five military organizations, and six federal civilian organizations.

Tornado touched down briefly in Sunman

According to information from the National Weather Service out of Wilmington, OH, a tornado was confirmed on Oct. 7 in Sunman. The tornado, which only stayed on the ground for a minute traveled almost three miles and damaged some buildings and downed trees in the Industrial Road area in Sunman.
