South Ripley eighth grader wins medal
Megan Cole finishes 7th in Middle School State XC Meet

One could say Megan Cole gets her desire honestly, being the daughter of South Ripley Raider Cross Country coaches Jim and Karen Cole, and the fact that vacations include at least someplace to run a 5K or two while on the road. Having ran the entire year in IHSAA school sanctioned XC Meets, never suffering a defeat or a closer finish than 45 seconds ahead of her nearest competitor, she wanted to test her abilities against the best in the state.

Pictured left, South Ripley Lady Raider eighth grader Megan Cole, pictured right, takes her cross-country running seriously. She dedicates much of her free time to enhancing her running ability and shortening the time it takes to finish the course. At right, she wears a 7th place medal won in state competition on Saturday, Oct. 4.

That she did, last Sunday in the Indiana MS (seventh and eighth) XC championship held on the Northview Church Course in Carmel, Indiana, where she finished seventh overall with her PR of 11:44, amid a field of 212 small school division competitors; (small school division being a current enrollment of 425 students or less.) “Megan’s performances are largely due to her outstanding work ethic and dedication to running. She has committed herself to running and truly enjoys the sport,” stated her father and coach Jim Cole.
