Gerald Freeman Workman

Gerald Freeman Workman, 71, of Osgood, entered this life on December 20, 1942 in Milan. He was the loving son of the late Wm. Cash and Mamie Pearl Armstrong Workman. Gerald was an Airforce veteran having served his country from 1961 until 1964.

He was then united in marriage to Lois Louise Roberts on August 7, 1965, at the Delaware Methodist Church in Delaware. Gerald had worked as a plant superintendent for Ohio Rod in Versailles from where he retired, after working forty-one years. He was a member of the Delaware Methodist Church where he had held different offices over the many years. His wife, Lois, expressed that even though he was greatly struggling with his illness towards the end he loved his church and continued until he was physically unable to attend anymore. He had worked with and sat on the board of directors of the Osgood Boy Scouts Troop # 638. Gerald especially loved his family and spending time with them. Hobbies that he enjoyed were working with wood creating craft items, and he also enjoyed gardening! His family stated that he would plant the garden and his favorite thing from this would be the making of sauerkraut from a family recipe that had been handed down from his family only to the men. Fishing and catching turtles were favorite pastimes, along with frog-gigging with his family! He was a devoted husband and dad. Gerald passed away early Saturday morning, November 15, 2014, at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Survivors include wife Lois Louise Roberts Workman of Osgood; son Michael Edward Workman and fiance Misty Dawn McNealan of Osgood; daughter Lora Lea (Eric) Workman Cole of Vevay; two other children that they lovingly raised as their own, Amy Lyn Roberts (Brian) McIntosh of Osgood and Dana Brooke Roberts (Jeremy) Carson of Sunman; brothers Charles (Anna) Workman of Harrison, Ohio, Wm. Workman of Lawrenceburg, Donald (Pat) Workman of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Dale (Carol) Workman of Bright, Arthur (Leisha) Workman of Dillsboro, and David (Bonnie) Workman of Moores Hill; sister-in-law Lorraine Workman of Osgood; and ten grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Workman.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, November 18, at Delaware Methodist Church from 6-7 p.m. with service immediately following. Pastor Tommy Beatly will officiate. Memorial donations may be given to the Delaware Methodist Church or Mud Pike Cemetery. Military services by the Osgood American Legion and Napoleon VFW. Marietta Hackman

Marietta Hackman, 93, of Osgood, passed away Friday, November 14, 2014, at Morning Breeze in Greensburg. She was born in Indianapolis on March 29, 1921, the daughter of Paul and Laura Allen Franklin. She was married to Walter “Babe” Hackman on May 3, 1943 and he preceded her in death on January 12, 1999.

Survivors include two sons, Jerry Hackman and Rick (Mary) Hackman both of Osgood; two daughters, Sharon White of Granville, Ohio, and Christie (Dennis) White of Osgood; 13 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren; and one sister Joan Hammon of Orlando, Florida. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her granddaughter Chelsa Hackman, her son-in-law Larry White, and her brothers Chuck Franklin, James Franklin, Paul Franklin, and Floyd Franklin.

Mrs. Hackman was a 1939 graduate of Osgood High School. She was a homemaker and along with her husband owned and operated Hackman’s Coin-O-Wash Laundromat in Osgood. Marietta was a member of the Osgood United Methodist Church, the Eastern Star, and the Osgood American Legion Auxiliary.

Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family with burial in the Greendale Cemetery in Osgood. Memorials may be given to the Osgood United Methodist Church or the Greendale Cemetery in care of the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles.

Dr. Richard P. Nero

Dr. Richard P. Nero, of Madison, died on Saturday, November 15, 201,4 at the Columbus Regional Hospital in Columbus. Funeral arrangements will be announced by the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison.

William Garrett

Dale Berry

Robert Dale Berry, 61, of New Marion, passed away Sunday, November 16, 2014 at King’s Daughters’ Hospital, Madison. He was born August 31, 1953 in New Marion, the son of Otis and Gladys Sumter Berry.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Joyce A. Cyrus Berry of New Marion; his two daughters, Megan Berry and Katelyn “Katie” Berry both of New Marion; his son, Robert Augustus “Gus” Berry of New Marion; his grandson, Elijah Berry of New Marion; his sister, Phyllis Sue Combs and her husband, Don of Reddington Beach, Florida; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Carol Berry of Cross Plains, Margot Berry of Madison, Cathy Frederick and her husband Bob of Barbourville, Kentucky, Pam Hamilton of Madison, Jennifer Boswell and her husband Jim of Scottsburg, Angela Cyrus of North Vernon, Mark Cyrus and his wife Vickie of Brooksburg, Michael Cyrus and his wife Alice of Madison, David Cyrus of Canaan; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Otis and Gladys Sumter Berry; his brothers, Daniel Berry, died December 2, 2005, William D. Berry, died July 10, 2010, Ronald Berry, died May 18, 2013, David Irvin Berry, died October 15, 1998.

He resided most all of his life in Ripley County and attended South Ripley High School. Dale was united in marriage on March 30, 1974 to Joyce A. Cyrus in Madison. He had worked as a truck driver for several years and also drove a school bus for South Ripley School system. Dale had worked earlier in life as a concrete truck driver for Schmaltz and Holman’s. He enjoyed riding motorcycles especially Harley’s, riding horses, coon hunting and the outdoors. Dale was a member of the Cross Plains Church of Christ and was now attending the Cedars of Lebanon in Dillsboro. Dale had belonged to several coon hunting clubs in his life time.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Nov. 20, at 1 p.m. at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, Madison, with Pastor Charlie Hill officiating. Burial will be at the Grandview Memorial Gardens near Madison. Visitation will be Wednesday, Nov. 19, from 5-8 p.m. and from Thursday from 11 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. The family requests memorials in memory of Dale to the Cedars of Lebanon, contribution cards are available at the funeral home. Terry Lee Wilson

Terry Lee Wilson, 58, of Osgood, was born on February 3, 1956, in Batesville. He was the son of the late Frances Lee and Shirley Ann Arthur Wilson. Terry married Bonna Mae Harmon, who still survives at their home in Osgood.

Mr. Wilson was a past employee of K & S Engineering of Indianapolis where he had worked as a driller. He had attended Bethany Baptist Church of Osgood. Trap shooting and riding motor cycles were two favorite things that Terry had enjoyed in his life. He will be sadly missed by all of his family.

Other survivors include sons Michael Wilson of Batesville, and Jeremy (Brittany) Wilson of Sunman; daughter Jessica (Rodney) Merida of Osgood; sisters Sharon Powers of Osgood and Judy Wilson of Lawrenceburg; one grandchild and three step-grandchildren; and four great-step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one great grandson, Dylan Jennings.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 15 at Neal’s Funeral Home, Osgood. Burial was in the Tanglewood Cemetery, Versailles. Memorials may be given to the donor’s choice. Neal’s Funeral Home, Osgood, was in charge of arrangements. www.nealsfuneralhome.net.
