By the thinnest of margins, one point 35-34, round one goes to the visiting Jac-Cen-Del Lady Eagles as they re-capture the Ripley Publishing Co., Inc. Traveling Pride Trophy from neighboring rival South Ripley Lady Raiders. It’s nice to have, but that final game at the end of regular season action for the two teams is yet to tell the tale.

The battle played out on Saturday evening, November 15, took every second of regulation before the realization of a winner could be named. Exactly 4.6 seconds remained in the fourth period on the scoreboard game clock when Lady Eagles junior Jordan Day made her move for a heavily contested lay-up score. That lay-up gave JCD the one point they needed for the win, 35-34. The Lady Eagles victory earned them possession of the Traveling Pride Trophy sponsored by Ripley Publishing Co. Inc. As Coach Smith presented the trophy to his team, he reminded them, “We started this way last season…we want to be the possessors of the trophy at the end of this season and not relinquish it back to the Lady Raiders as we did last year at the season's final meeting.”

Both teams faced the second game of the season on Friday night, November 14. Action found the Lady Raiders a three-point, 56-53, victor over the visiting Lawrenceburg Lady Tigers. Without the assistance of injured Lady Eagle Abby Wagner or Jenna Hughes, the Lady Eagles likewise won their opening season game over the visiting Rising Sun Lady Shiners by 35 points, with the final tally JCD 59-24 RS.
