Christina Day Sutton

Christina Day Sutton, 45, of Osgood, passed away Saturday, December 13, 2014 at the Margaret Mary Community Hospital in Batesville. She was born in Lawrenceburg on January 27, 1969, the daughter of Tom and Lorine Holliday Day. She was married to Timothy Sutton on November 1, 1997 and he survives.

Other survivors include her parents Tom and Lorine Day of Versailles; stepson Blake Sutton of Greensburg; stepdaughter Lindsay Sutton, a freshman at Ball State University in Muncie; her sister Deanna (Roger) Young of Napoleon; father-in-law George Sutton of Fairfield, Ohio; mother-in-law Priscilla Sutton, and grandmother-in-law Betty McGlone both of Osgood; and her nieces Kiersten Young, a doctorate student at Bellarmine University in Louisville, and Morgan Young, a junior at Ball State University.

Mrs. Sutton was a 1987 graduate of South Ripley High School. She was employed with the Margaret Mary Community Hospital in Batesville where she worked in medical billing. She had also been employed with Magic Touch Flowers in Osgood and had previously done medical billing for Obermeyer Chiropractic.

She was an avid supporter of Jac-Cen-Del sports and also offered her assistance in many school functions. Chris was a member of the Hopewell Baptist Church and her hobbies included playing softball and scrapbooking.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 18 at 10:30 a.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Bro. Bill Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Cliff Hill Cemetery in Versailles. Visitation will be Wednesday from 3-8 p.m. Memorials may be given to the Bucket Buddies Mission or the Jac-Cen-Del Scholarship Foundation in care of the funeral home.


Janine Frances Fluegeman

Janine Frances Fluegeman, 48, of Milan, passed away on Friday, December 12, 2014 at home. The daughter of Gilbert and Clara ‘Inge’ (Schoene) Fluegeman was born on March 10, 1966 in Cincinnati, OH.

Janine dearly loved her family, they meant so much to her. She was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church in Milan. Janine loved going to church and singing on Sundays, along with hugging all of her church friends. Janine has touched the hearts of many people with her loving hugs. Another favorite of Janine’s were her vacations to Walt Disney World, truly a magical place for her. Janine attended New Horizons Rehabilitation for about 30 years; first working in the workshop, then attending the Senior Day Program for the last few years.

Janine will be missed by her father, Gilbert of Batesville; sisters Debbie Rothermel of Dayton, OH, Chris (Rick) Denton of Milan, Sharon (Chas) Mahoney of Ft. Thomas, KY and Therese Graves of Franklin; brothers Ken (Marge) Fluegeman of Moores Hill, and Doug (fiance’ Robin) Fluegeman of Taylor Mill, KY; along 17 nieces and nephews. In addition to her mother, she was preceded by her brothers David and Michael.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Tuesday, Dec. 16 at St. Charles Catholic Church in Milan with Fr. Frank Eckstein officiating. Burial will be in the Craven Cemetery, Milan. Clyde K. Hopping

Clyde K. Hopping, 95, of Milan, passed away Friday, December 12, 2014 at Ripley Crossing in Milan. Clyde was born Sunday August 3, 1919 in Harrison, OH, the son of Forest and Ella (Donaworth) Hopping. Clyde married Lucille (Stoehr) Hopping, October 1941 and she preceded him in death November 1993.

Clyde worked at Aurora Casket Company as a welder retiring in 1994 after 34 years. He enjoyed farming, working in his garage, being outside and riding his quad.

Clyde is survived by sons Charles (Ruby) Hopping of Milan, Robert Hopping of Ross, OH, Raymond (Maggie) Hopping of Milan, Clyde Jr. Hopping of Osgood; daughters, Bonnie (Richard) Goyette of Punta Gorda, FL, Anita Turner and fiancé Tim Sturgeon of Batesville; sister, Martha Lee of FL; 16 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; and eight great great grandchildren. Clyde was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lucille Hopping, and one son, James William Hopping, one sister, Leona Taylor.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, Dec. 17, at 11 a.m. at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home, Milan with Pastor Charlie Miller officiating. Burial will follow in St. Charles Cemetery south of Milan. Visitation will be Wednesday Dec. 17, from 9-11 a.m. also at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Milan Fire Department or Milan Rescue 30. Jamie Stratton

Jamie Stratton, 61, of Lafayette. passed away Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at the IU Arnett Hospital in Lafayette. She was born at Batesville on October 5, 1953, the daughter of James and Jeraldine Jahnigen Humphrey. She was married to Sam Stratton on May 31, 1975 and he survives.

Other survivors include her mother Jeraldine Humphrey of Osgood; one son James D. Stratton of Anderson; one daughter Christina Stratton of Lafayette; one sister Janine (Mike) Stratton of Holton; sisters-in-law Barbara (Chuck) Stevenson of Indianapolis, and Vernice Stratton of Holton. She was preceded in death by her father.

Mrs. Stratton was a 1971 graduate of Jac-Cen-Del High School where she was her class valedictorian. She received her BS degree in nursing from the University of Evansville in 1975 and her MS degree in pediatric nursing from the University of Missouri in 1981. For the past several years she had worked as an assistant nurse at East Tipp Middle School and Hershey Elementary School near Lafayette. She had also been a nurse at Home Hospital in Lafayette, served as Washington Township Trustee, and had been a nursing instructor at Purdue University. Jamie was a member of the Buck Creek United Methodist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher as well as serving on various committees. She had baked professionally making cakes for weddings and special occasions. Jamie also enjoyed crafts, flowers, scrapbooking, and decorating for the holidays.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 17 at 10:30 a.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Pastor Tom Beatley of the Osgood United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Dabney Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. Memorials may be given to the Dabney Cemetery or the Osgood United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home.


Ruth M. Corbin

Ruth M. Corbin, 84, of North Vernon, passed away Thursday, December 11, 2014. A funeral service will be held Thursday, Dec. 18, at 7 p.m. at Sawyer–Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service, North Vernon. Robert Christopher “Roy” Vollat

Robert Christopher “Roy” Vollat, 30, of Bennington, died Thursday, December 11, 2014. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 17, at 11 a.m. at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, Vevay. Dennis Holcomb, 80, of Versailles, passed away Monday, December 15, 2014. Services are pending at Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home, Versailles.

Harris “Tom” Hill

Harris “Tom” Hill, 88, of Cincinnati, OH, formerly of Weisburg, IN, passed away Sunday, December 14, 2014. Visitation will be held on Thursday, Dec. 18 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Hubbells Corner, beginning at 11 a.m. The funeral service will begin at noon. Burial services will be at Union Cemetery, adjacent to the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Lutheran World Relief. Walter “Wally” Cox

Walter “Wally” Cox, 72, of Seymour, passed away Saturday, December 13, 2014 in Anderson. Born January 24, 1942 in Knott County, Kentucky, he was a son of the late L.B. & Luelzia (Gayhart) Cox. On June 14, 1980 he married Louise Brewer McKinney and she survives.

Other survivors include his children: Eric (Gina) Cox and two stepsons: Mark (Joyce) McKinney and Scott (Megan) McKinney; brother: Clark (Dorothy) Cox; and sister: Thelma Cox; nine grandchildren: Bradley Cox, Derek Cox, Payton Cox, Ashley Cox, Amanda Cox, Andrew McKinney, Victoria McKinney, Reed McKinney and John McKinney. He was preceded n death by his parents, one son (Brian Cox), three brothers and one sister.

Wally had worked as a supervisor for Interstate Brands Corporation and was a US Navy veteran. He was an avid golfer, who played as recently as Friday. His great joy was traveling with his wife in their RV throughout the United States frequently.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 17, at 11 a.m. at the Winklepleck-Weesner Funeral Home in Brownstown. Family and friends may call that day after 10 a.m. Bill Lockman will officiate. Visitation will be held Tuesday, Dec.16, from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial with military rites will be held at the Smallwood Cemetery, west of Brownstown. Winklepleck-Weesner Funeral Home in Brownstown is in charge of arrangements.


Mary Evelyn Lane

Mary Evelyn Lane, 55, of Rising Sun, passed away Thursday, December 11, 2014.
