Kenneth E. Farrell

Kenneth E. Farrell, 76, of Dillsboro, passed away Thursday, February 6, 2014 at Dearborn County Hospital, following a long illness. He was born on August 19, 1937, in Versailles to Glennie Farrell and Ruth Campbell Farrell. On June 11, 1959 he was united in marriage to Dorothy Gabbard, and they were blessed with two daughters, Kennita “Kay” and Bevaleen “Bev."

Kenneth was employed for many years at Aurora Casket Company as a sander, a job he truly loved. He and Dorothy were members of Hope Baptist Church on Hwy. 50 west of Dillsboro. Ken was a good husband and father, his family was very important to him. The absolute love of his life was his five-year-old great-granddaughter, Marissa Farrell. He loved sitting on his back porch watching the deer in his backyard.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Glennie Farrell and Ruth Campbell Farrell; sister, Carolyn Farrell; and brother, Earnest Farrell. Surviving is his loving wife, Dorothy; two daughters, Kennita “Kay” (Kip) McClinchie of San Antonio, Texas; and Bevaleen “Bev” (Jim) Hankins of Elrod; five grandchildren, Kendall Hankins, Kyle A. Farrell, Jenna L. Chase, and Kyle C. McClinchie; great-granddaughter, Marissa Farrell; two sisters, Catherine May and Helen Scott of Versailles; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be at the convenience of the family, and burial will be at the Green Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the American Youth Outreach Unlimited A.Y.O.U.

Sharon R. Cutter

Sharon R. Cutter, nee Stevens, 63 of Aurora, passed away Sunday afternoon, February 9, 2014 at Dearborn County Hospital. She was the wife of Robert Cutter, and the mother of Jason (Jennifer) Cutter of Loveland, OH, and Jared (Tonya) Cutter of Cincinnati, OH, and the grandmother of Emma Mae Cutter.

Sharon graduated from the class of 1968 at Dillsboro High School and was a member of the Dillsboro United Methodist Church.

Friends may meet her family at DeVries Fellowship Room, 12667 Lenover St. (13 blocks east of the funeral home, formerly 50+ club building). Time and day to be announced. Please call the funeral home at 812-432-5480 for time and day.

Paul Beeman


Paul Beeman, 77 of Butlerville, passed away Friday, February 7, 2014. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 12 at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service in North Vernon. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Tanglewood Cemetery in Ripley County. Memorials may be given to the Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility in care of the funeral home. Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service, North Vernon, is in charge of arrangements.


Cranston Creech Watson

Cranston Creech Watson, 86, of Moores Hill, passed away Friday, February 7, 2014 at Dearborn County Hospital following a long illness. Cranston was born in Liberty, KY on Feb. 9, 1928, the son of Estel Watson and Lora Gilpin Watson. On November 27, 1950 he was united in marriage to Dorothy Murphy, and they were blessed with five children.

Cranston served his country at the end of WW II in the US Army as an MP. He was employed for many years at JayC Foods as a meat dept. manager. He enjoyed deer hunting, although he hardly ever shot one. He loved being out in the woods. Cranston enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. He looked forward to a nice family vacation every year, and his family has many nice memories of these trips. Cranston and Dorothy were members of Westchester Church of Christ in Westchester, Ohio.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; two sons, Keith (Terri) Watson of Moores Hill and Jeff (Norma) Watson of Milan; two daughters, Beverly Morris of Batesville and Lisa Dyer of Park Hills, Ky.; one brother, Irvin Watson of North Vernon; 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents; one brother and five sisters, and his daughter Teresa Fette.

Funeral services for Cranston were held Monday, Feb. 10 at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home in Milan with Pastor John Brewer and Rev. Barney Owens officiating. Burial was at the Oakdale Cemetery in Dillsboro.

Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements were entrusted to DeVries Funeral Home in Dillsboro.


Shirley Marie Herbert


Shirley Marie Herbert, 73 of Milan, passed away Saturday, February 8, 2014. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 11 from 4-7 p.m. with the funeral service at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, all at the Grace Baptist Church in Milan. Burial will follow at the Batesville United Methodist Church Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Grace Baptist Church, the Milan Fire Department or Milan Rescue 30. Meyers Funeral Home, Batesville, is in charge of arrangements.

Grace Franklin, 83, of Milan, passed away on Monday, Feb. 10, 2014 at Ripley Crossing Nursing Home in Milan.
