Ripley Publishing is entering the digital world, and inviting readers to join them. Beginning March 18, electronic editions of the Osgood Journal and The Versailles Republican will be available online to subscribers. Both newspapers may be viewed in their entirety by accessing the website at www.ripleynews.com and clicking on e-Edition to log in. “You will be able to view a free demonstration also.
“Readers will be able to view the digital version of the printed newspapers online the days they are published. That is a big advantage to those who live outside our delivery area as they will no longer have to wait days to get the latest Ripley County news,” said Linda Chandler, publisher. The digital edition may be accessed Tuesday and Thursday evenings, the days the newspapers are produced. An email alert will notify subscribers of each issue.

Another advantage to the e-Edition is all the photos will be in color. “It’s going to look great,” Chandler said. “The e-Edition will be available wherever there is Internet service. If you’re on vacation, you can keep up with what is going on in your hometown, even using a smartphone if you like,” Chandler said. “We go where you go!”

More people want immediate news online and Ripley Publishing recognizes this is an increasing trend, particularly with the younger generation. “We want to keep up to date for all of our consumers and advertisers,” Chandler said.

Subscribers in Ripley and adjoining counties will continue to receive the printed newspaper and have the choice to add the e-edition for an additional $10.

If you live elsewhere in Indiana or out of state, you can subscribe to the print edition, e-edition or both. E-edition subscribers will also be able to view past issues online or can search for a particular story.

As part of the e-Edition launch, Gold Star Chili is partnering with Ripley Publishing and offering $10 in restaurant gift certificates to the first 50 who sign up for the e-Edition. “Thank you to Gold Star for supporting our new endeavor and being a valuable community business,” Chandler said. The gift certificates will be mailed to readers who sign up.

Beginning Tuesday, March 18, you can subscribe at www.ripleynews.com. If you’re already a subscriber, it costs just $10 to add the electronic version. (Look for our ad in this newspaper for more details on annual subscription costs.) You can also subscribe by stopping in the office at 115 South Washington Street in Versailles or call 812-689-6364.

In addition, you’ll soon be seeing Ripley Publishing on Facebook, alerting “friends” of local happenings and what to see in the upcoming newspapers.
