Brenda Jay Barr

Brenda Jay Barr, 52 of Greenwood, passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at her home. She was born Monday, May 8, 1961, in Lawrenceburg, the daughter of Billy Ray and Barbara Jean (Ashcraft) Cook.

Brenda graduated from the Ohio State University March 16, 1984. She was married to David Barr, October 13, 1984. Brenda was a preschool teacher at Welcome Place Pre-School and later at Adventures Preschool. She was a member of the Heartland Church of Christ. She loved children, animals, traveling, playing cards, and quilting. She was a very comforting and kind person. She always was happy and wore a smile.

Brenda is survived by husband, David Barr and son, Zachary Barr both of Greenwood; mother, Barbara Cook of Westerville, Ohio; grandmother, Mildred Ashcraft of Dillsboro; sister, Beth Richardson of Columbus; niece, Allison; and nephews, Seth and Austin Richardson; brother-in-law, Gary (Karen) Barr of Columbus, Ohio; nephew, Justin; sister-in-law, Teresa (George) Vann of Alabama; and nephew Scott, father-in-law Bill (Libby) Barr of Fairfield, Ohio, mother-in-law Marilyn Wise of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, and numerous other aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Billy Ray Cook, grandparents Floyd and Goldie Cook, and grandfather Elmer Ashcraft.

Funeral services were held Monday, March 17, at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home, Milan with Mitch Davis, Shelby Floyd, and Adam Ferrell officiating. Burial was in the New Craven Cemetery, Milan. Marilyn Jo Einhaus, 75, of Batesville, formerly of Napoleon, passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2014. Funeral services were held Sat., March 15 at Meyers Funeral Home, Batesville. John Harvey “J.H.” Hurt

John Harvey “J.H.” Hurt, 57, passed away Thursday, March 13, 2014. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 18, at 2 p.m. at DeVries Funeral Home, Dillsboro. John I. Watts

John I. Watts, 55 of Garrett, passed away Monday, January 20, 2014, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. He was born March 17, 1958, in Milan, the son of Ray and Vivian (Wilson) Watts. His father has passed away, his mother survives in Fort Wayne. John was an arborist and worked in the field of horticulture most of his life.

Surviving along with his mother Vivian, is a sister and brother-in-law, Jane and Bill Davidson of Fort Wayne, and a nephew and his wife, Tobias and Mindy Blech of Auburn. He was preceded in death by his father and an infant sister, Jean Marie Watts.

John’s wishes were to be cremated. A graveside service to bury his remains was held March 17, at Cliff Hill Cemetery, Versailles. Peter J. Forthofer, 67, of Sunman, passed away Friday, March 14, 2014. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 18, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home, Sunman. Rosary will begin at 3:30.
