Ohio Rod Products hosted MLB Pitch-Hit-Run results

Gary Franklin
SPORTS EDITOR

The MLB Pitch-Hit-Run event was held Sunday, May 18 and was hosted by Ohio Rod Products. Those who volunteered their time to help make this a successful event were David Bradshaw, Phil King, Mike Ploeger, Steve Ollier, Travis Wrightsman, Steve Franklin, Gil Landwehr, SRHS junior Chase Samples, and SRHS senior Austin Halcomb. The area’s top three “all around champions” for each age group of the P-H-R will next compete against the Cincinnati region. All sectional site scores find the top three kids from each age group in the Cincinnati area will advance to the team round.
Samples added, “We may or may not get any kids to that level, but should know in a couple days if we do.”

“Right now, I know of three kids from the Ohio Rod sectional going to Great American Ballpark. They compete on June 7 at 7 a.m. The winner of each group that morning gets to go on the field and be recognized during the 4 p.m. game that evening against Philly. Each kid gets a shirt, hat and two tickets for the game. The winners have 48 hours, after receiving their invitation to accept. Names of advancers from the ORP-hosted event will be posted once they have accepted. “My goal was to get at least one kid a chance to go to Great American Ballpark and compete; looks like we have at least three,” said Samples.
