Charles Paul Meister


Charles Paul Meister, 81, of Osgood, entered this life on January 24, 1933, in Batesville. He was the son of the late Joseph and Mary Josephine Glaub Meister. He married Glenda Gayle Jeffries on July 26, 1952, in Lawrenceburg, and she survives at home. They were blessed with six sons and two daughters.

Paul was an army veteran having served his country from 1953 to 1955. He was also a past employee with Batesville Tool and Die Inc., from where he retired. Paul also was a farmer. His family expressed that he especially enjoyed the farm and also the animals. He was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Osgood and the Knights of Columbus. During the latter part of his life, he and his wife Glenda had enjoyed wintering in Florida. His family clearly stated that the greatest thing in Paul’s life was his family that he loved so much. Paul died peacefully at his home Sunday, July 27, 2014 with his family at his side.

Survivors include wife, Glenda Gayle Jeffries Meister of Osgood; sons, James (Beverly) Meister of Cincinnati, Ohio, Thomas (Marlene) Meister of Osgood, David (Jodi) Meister of Napoleon, Charles (Cheryle) Meister of Osgood, Mark Meister of Osgood and Stephen (Marsha) Meister of Osgood; daughter, Paula Webster of Cincinnati, Ohio; 19 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

One daughter preceded him in death, Barbara Sloan, along with three grandchildren Jennifer and Michelle Sloan and grandson Nic Meister. Also five brothers preceded him in death: Robert, Wm., John, Frank and Joseph Meister along with three sisters: Rosella Holzer, Lenora Cool and Betty Rouse.

Funeral services will be held all in one day, Tuesday, July 29, at St. John’s Catholic Church of Osgood, with visitation from 10 a.m. to 12 noon and funeral services immediately following. Military graveside services will be conducted by the Osgood American Legion and Napoleon VFW. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Memorials may be given to the donor’s choice. Christopher McConnell


Christopher McConnell, 43, of Osgood, was born January 26, 1971, in Hamilton, Ohio. He was the son of Lester Thomas and Norma Jean Nowlin McConnell who still survive.

Chris had worked as a tree trimmer. He enjoyed fishing, working on cars and motors. His family also expressed that Chris was a wonderful artist and also was very creative in writing poetry. Chris passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2014 at the Decatur County Memorial Hospital in Greensburg.

Survivors include parents Lester and Norma Jean Nowlin McConnell of Osgood; daughter, Brittany McConnell of Versailles; son, Dakota “Cody” McConnell of Greensburg; brothers, Tom (Renee) McConnell of Holton, Tim (Lou) McConnell of Milan, Kenny McConnell of Milan and Kevin (Amy) McConnell of Batesville; sisters, Tammy McConnell of Milan, Tonya Lewis of North Vernon, Terri (John) Mayberry of Butlerville, and Lori (Robert ) Herbert of Moores Hill; and one grandchild, Isabella Downey.

A memorial graveside service will be held, Tuesday, August 5, at 7 p.m. at Perseverance Cemetery, Osgood. Arrangements are being handled by Neal’s Funeral Home, Osgood. www.nealsfuneralhome.net.
