Eva M. Combs


Eva M. Combs, 96, of Milan, passed away Saturday, July 26, 2014 at her residence. Eva was born Friday, September 21, 1917, in Osgood, the daughter of Clarence and Nellie Annette (Bruner) Folsom. She married Marcus Combs on August 29, 1943, and he preceded her in death on December 14, 1996.

Eva was a homemaker, and also had worked as a clerk at Kroger and JayC Store in Milan. She was a member of the Milan First Baptist Church, the Milan Senior Citizens, and loved fine art painting and painting landscape pictures. She had enjoyed camping, cooking, traveling and collecting antiques. She enjoyed playing euchre and playing on her tablet.

Eva is survived by daughter, Linda Combs of Milan and numerous nieces, nephews and many special friends. She was also preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 29, at Milan First Baptist Church, Milan, with Pastor Harris Long officiating. Burial was in New Craven Cemetery at Milan. Alan L. Dunaway

Alan L. Dunaway, 61, of Greensburg, passed away Monday, July 28, 2014, at his home. He was born at Biloxi, Mississippi on October 21, 1952, and was raised in Ripley County the son of Robert and Donna Feltenberger Dunaway. He was married to Myrna McKittrick on December 28, 1970 and she survives.

Other survivors include one son Curtis (Trista) Dunaway of Columbus; one daughter Brandi (Josh) Spellman of Indianapolis; grandchildren Gabriella Garcia and Alan Dunaway; his mother-in-law Virginia McDonald of Fancy Gap, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Calvin.

Mr. Dunaway was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War where he served with the Fourth Infantry Division of the Sixth Army. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with one Bronze Star, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Sharpshooter Badge.

In civilian life, Alan worked for 25 years for Delta Faucet in Greensburg and also worked for Navistar in Indianapolis for 11 years. Alan was a member of the Church of Christ at Greensburg.

A celebration of Alan’s life will be held on Monday, August 4 from 4-7 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles. Memorials may be given to the donor’s choice.


George Robert Leach

George Robert Leach, 73, of Dillsboro, passed away and went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday evening, July 29, 2014, at his home following a long illness. He was born in Cincinnati on July 1, 1941, to Donald Leach and Edna Smothers Leach. On August 4, 1973, he was united in marriage to Christine Potter.

George was employed for 21 years at Ashley Ward Manufacturing Co. He was an avid fisherman and also enjoyed hunting and camping. George and his wife Christine were members of Living Word Apostolic Church in Aurora.

Surviving is his wife Christine; brother-in-law, Henry Potter; sister-in-law, Edie Sandusky; six special nephews, Wayne and Allen Sandusky, Brandon and Joey Luckett, and Jeff and Brian Potter.

Funeral services will be Saturday, August 2, at 11 a.m. at Living Word Apostolic Church, located at 7475 US Hwy 50 in Aurora, with Pastor Nick Seniour officiating. Friends may meet his family Saturday from 9-11 a.m. at the church. He will be laid to rest at Oakdale Cemetery in Dillsboro. Memorials may be given to the family towards a marker for Mr. Leach at the cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to DeVries Funeral Home in Dillsboro.


Virginia Lee Trautman

Virginia Lee Trautman, 91, of Sunman, passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2014, at the Waters of Batesville. Born September 5, 1922, in Sunman, she was the daughter of Allen E. and Alma M. Einhaus Trautman.

Virginia was a 1940 graduate of Sunman High School. From February 1, 1943, to December 2, 1977, she was the postmaster in Sunman. Virginia was a member of the Sunman Community Church and volunteered at Hospitality Hall in Batesville. She liked to do counted cross stitch and gave many of her works to friends and family. Virginia also enjoyed traveling, especially bus trips.

Those surviving who will honor Virginia’s memory include numerous cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation is Friday, August 1, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Cook Rosenberger Funeral Home, 107 Vine Street, Sunman. Services, officiated by Pastor Bill Powlen will begin at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial immediately follows in St. Paul Cemetery, Sunman. Family requests memorial donations to Margaret Mary Health Hospice or to a charity of choice.
