Rhonda J. Tunny
Rhonda J. Tunny, 57, of Seymour, formerly of Holton passed away Thursday, August 21, 2014 at the Schneck Medical Center in Seymour. She was born at Milan on August 18, 1957, the daughter of Travis and Janet Walsh Mack. She was married to Paul Tunny on January 17, 1976, and he survives.
Other survivors include her parents Travis and Janet Mack of Holton; one son Brad Tunny of Salisbury, North Carolina; one daughter Kristi Schneider of Seymour; three grandchildren Braxton Tunny, Blake Schneider, and Brooklyn Schneider; one brother Kevin Mack of Holton.
Mrs. Tunny was a 1975 graduate of South Ripley High School. She formerly served as the clerk-treasurer for the town of Holton and had also worked as a cook for South Ripley High School. Rhonda was a member of the Holton Christian Church.
Funeral services were held on Monday, August 25 at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Mitch Harrell of the Hopewell Baptist Church officiating. Burial was in the Holton Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Diabetes Foundation or the Holton Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
Dwayne Edward Martin
Dwayne Edward Martin, 40, of Sunman, passed away Tuesday, August 19, 2014, at Margaret Mary Hospital in Batesville. He was born July 12, 1974, in Cincinnati to Richard Jenkins and Diana Foutty Jenkins.
Dwayne was self-employed as a home remodeler and roofer, and he enjoyed his Harley-Davidson motorcycle.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Mike and Diane Byrd of Lawrenceburg; father Richard Jenkins and his wife Daisy of Sunman; two sons, Austin and Alex Martin; sister, Sarah Martin of Lawrenceburg; and two nephews, Aydon Martin and Weston Martin; and his fiancee, Tracey Cooley.
Funeral services for Dwayne were held Sat., Aug. 24 at DeVries Funeral Home in Dillsboro, with Pastor Mona Safley officiating. Burial was in the Oakdale Cemetery in Dillsboro. Memorials may be given to the family. DeVries Funeral Home in Dillsboro was in charge of arrangements.
Elvera D. Cutter
Elvera D. Cutter, 90, of Dillsboro, passed away Wednesday, August 20, 201,4 at Dearborn County Hospital following a long illness. Elvera was born July 31, 1924 in Pocahontas, Missouri, to Charles Martin Kieninger and Mathilda Bellman Kieninger.
She graduated from Pocahontas High School and in 1948 she moved to Farmers Retreat to live near an uncle. Her parents both died at an early age, and she was raised by an older sister. Elvera had a twin sister, LaVera, who moved from Missouri shortly after Elvera did, and the two of them shared many activities with each other. In 1949 Elvera was married to Loren W. Cutter, and he preceded her in death on October 28, 2003. Elvera was employed for a time at Schenley Distillery in the cafeteria. Elvera and her twin sister, and their spouses, lived near each other and grew tobacco and made sorghum. Elvera was a member for several years at St. John Lutheran Church in Farmers Retreat, and most recently she was a member at Trinity Lutheran Church in Dillsboro.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Loren; and three sisters and five brothers. Surviving is her twin sister, LaVera Barlow, of Dillsboro, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Elvera were held Saturday, August 23, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Dillsboro, with Pastor Richard Wilke officiating. She was laid to rest next to her husband, Loren, at St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Farmers Retreat. Memorials in her name may be given to Dillsboro Life Squad or to Friendship Volunteer Fire Dept. DeVries Funeral Home in Dillsboro was in charge of arrangements.
David Begley
David Begley, 87, of Versailles passed away Monday, August 25, 2014, at his home. He was born on Bull Creek near Dry Hill in Leslie County, Kentucky, on May 28, 1927, the son of Joe and Maxie Melton Begley. He was married to Clara Noble in 1945 and she preceded him in death on October 29, 1996.
Survivors include one son Charlie Begley of Lawrenceburg; seven grandchildren James Begley, Chris Begley, John Begley, Charles David Begley, Jacln Begley, Jack Begley, and Samantha Begley; and 16 great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents, his son Jack Begley, his brother J. L. Begley, sisters Alveda Sizemore, Geneda Schircliff, and Hattigene Lewis, and his great-grandson Matthew Willman.
Mr. Begley was an Army veteran of WW II where he served with the 5th Army in Japan. He received the WW II Victory Medal and the Army Occupation of Japan Medal. He was a truck driver employed with Gateway Trucking in Cincinnati, retiring in 1979. David was a member of the VFW, the Teamsters, and a former American Legion member. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 29, at 1 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles. Burial will be in the Cliff Hill Cemetery with military graveside rites by the Versailles American Legion. Visitation will be Friday from 11 a.m. until time of services. Memorials may be given to the Cliff Hill Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
