Jac-Cen-Del Eagles offense nails the net for 11-1 victory over visiting Switzerland County Pacers

Gary Franklin
SPORTS EDITOR

On Monday, August 25, Jac-Cen-Del Eagles varsity soccer team toed up for the challenge, scoring 11 goals during the regulation game action. The Eagles offense met the challenge of the visiting Switzerland County Pacers head-on during opening half action, to capture a 3-0 edge by the halftime break. Coach Jones found delight in his team’s offensive performance over the first half, in the netting of three goals, but also found positivity in his team’s defensive efforts to deny the SC Pacers a goal during that stretch.

Goalkeeper duties for the Eagles were shared between Mason Powers and Devon Wilson during varsity action. Second-half action found no reason for the smile on Coach Jones face to fade, as his team continued performing positively both offensively and defensively for the remainder of the game. Jac-Cen-Del added another eight goals to their tally, while only giving up one score by the Pacers. The final count, 11-1, JCD over SC gave the Eagles a 2-0 ORVC Conference record to date and an overall 2-0-1 season record with a non-conference 3-3 tie between them and the Lawrenceburg Tigers, already in the 2014 season record book. Goals scored by JCD were recorded to Thiago Kronemberg (Kapps) 5 and Blake Straub 3 with teammates Keith Simon, Patrick Holt and Tyler Huff adding one goal score each. Assists were recorded to: Riley Thomas, Blake Straub and Thiago for one each, while teammate Tyler Huff collected three.

The IHSAA has moved the annually held soccer sectional from JCD High School to Hauser High School. This leaves one more sports tournament that in the past featured local teams forced to play at different sites.
