Jennings Co. Lady Panthers 6-0 over SR Lady Raiders

Gary Franklin
SPORTS EDITOR

The Saturday, August 30, South Ripley Lady Raiders soccer team’s hosting of the Jennings County Lady Panthers varsity resulted in a 6-0 loss but also a win for the Lady Raiders; however, that would have to be determined based on one’s specific qualification of a win. On the scoreboard, as perspective to their 2014 season game record, it truly in every aspect was an SR loss.

Relative to their previous week’s trek and game at Silver Creek with five players ending up in ER from dehydration, the Jennings County game could be recorded as a Lady Raiders victory. A victory, in that everyone was back on the playing field and giving it their all in the face of battle.

Perhaps a little more aware of what the onslaught of pushing it too far is like and beyond that, definitely a better awareness to keep from overheating. Having learned the hard way, hydration needs to take place long before actual play during the game.

Did they go after it as hard as they might have prior to the incident at Silver Creek? Not likely. They gave up five scores to the Lady Panthers in the first half; however, finding that they were now better prepared, second half action found SR only allowing one more JC score. Playing the position of Lady Raiders goalkeeper in the first half was junior Shelby Myers (15) with sophomore Danielle Baugh (13) the second-half keeper.
