SPORTS EDITOR

The first South Ripley HS hosted and United Community Bank sponsored Invitational Boys Basketball Tournament played on Monday and Tuesday, December 29 and 30, found much favor and community support. The holiday tournament had all the ingredients to keep excitement and entertainment value high, not only up to the final sounding of the regulation horn of the varsity championship contest but an overtime period as well.

Raider Head Coach Travis Wrightsman and JV Coach Brad Samples sought and found an entertaining eight team group to compete with them. South Ripley Head Coach Wrightsman’s welcomed the crowd and thanked UCB for sponsoring the 2014 Holiday Classic along with other area businesses. I believe this tournament provides a great opportunity for us to promote the positive attributes of high school sports. I hope you will join this effort by demonstrating great sportsmanship. He encouraged everyone to cheer for their home team in a positive manner, show respect to the officials and show respect to your opponents and show your appreciation for great basketball by all teams.
