Edward A. Hyatt

Edward A. Hyatt, of St. Cloud Florida, went to his Lord and Saviour May 13, 2015, at 5:49 a.m. He was born February 25, 1933, in Dillsboro to Charles and Elsie Hyatt.

Ed grew up working on the families farm and service station until he graduated high school from New Marion and then went to Hanover College in Madison. After a few years there, he joined the Air Force where he spent the next four years in active service in England, Germany and various other places. It was then that he met his life partner of the next 59 years, Betty Jean Thompson, in 1955. Ed and Betty moved back to Southern Indiana after having their only child Michael in 1958. Ed worked at Reliance Electric in Madison, where he retired, along with farming and working at the family Gulf station. He was a long time member of the Shelby Christian Church in Indiana until they moved to Florida where he was a member of the Canoe Creek Christian Church. He loved flying his airplane as he was a pilot for over 40 years, racing of all types as he was a broadcaster one year for the Indianapolis 500 and worked with the Miss Madison Hydroplane for over 20 years. From flying skydivers to working constantly, Ed still always found time for his family. He was a 33rd degree Mason with the Versailles Masonic Lodge, a Shriner, a member of Easter Star, and a 50 year member of the Scottish Rite. Ed was loved by all and devoted his entire life to taking care of his family, friends, community and country.

He will sadly missed by his surviving wife Betty, his son Mike and his wife Debbie; four grandchildren, Kaley, Heather, Krystle, Zachary, and two great grandchildren Zoe and Phoenix.

Services will be held at the Osceola Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 2000 13th Street, Saint Cloud, FL on Tuesday, May 19 at 1 p.m. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 11– 1 p.m. Interment to follow at Mount Peace Cemetery, Saint Cloud, FL., with full military honors. Condolences may be mailed to: 1915 Lakeshore Blvd, St. Cloud, FL 34769. Arrangements entrusted to Osceola Memory Gardens Funeral Home, St. Cloud 407-957-2511. www.OsceolaMemGds.com.
