Elsie D. Patterson

Elsie D. Patterson went to be with our Lord and Savior Wednesday, August 3, 2016. She was born to Archie and Margurite (Dolly) Patterson in Anderson on January 26, 1935. She was raised by her wonderful grandparents Fred and Luie Patterson on a farm on Hwy. 50 in Holton.

Elsie drove in the powder puff stock car races at Vernon Speedway and was a fierce competitor. She loved riding her motorcycle; her six boys; her little dog Frankie; and most of all our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Elsie was a member of Christ Baptist Church in North Vernon.

Survivors include her sons, Lewis (Pauline) Pate, North Vernon, William “Billy” Hexamer, Virginia, Randell “Randy” Gilland of North Vernon, Darryl Gilland of Anderson and Micheal “Mike” Gilland of North Vernon; 17 grandchildren and several great grandchildren; sisters, Margle Patterson Dorsey of Seymour and Florence (Ann) Dahling of Colorado. She was preceded in death by her son, James “Jimmy” Gilland; brother, Virgle Patterson; sisters, Marjorie “Mandy” Patterson, Rose McMillian; her parents and grandparents.

Elsie worked at Vines Poultry, Osgood and US Shoe, Osgood, for three years; Emge Packing in Anderson for 10 years and held several different jobs. She was a member of the Christ Fellowship, Shirley, IN, before moving to North Vernon to be with her sons. No services will be held.


Madison K9 Eros

Madison K9 Eros, age 5, of Madison, The Madison Police Department, lost a dedicated partner and loyal friend on Saturday, July 16, 2016. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, August 5, at 6 p.m., at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, Madison. Friends may call Friday, August 5, from 5-6 p.m. at the funeral home. A Fraternal of Police Service will be conducted for Madison K9 Eros during the funeral on Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Madison K9 Unit Memorial Fund. Cards are available at the funeral home. Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, Madison, is entrusted with arrangements.


Ernest L. Burnett

Ernest L Burnett, 54, of Versailles, passed away Saturday, July 30, 2016. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Aug. 3 at the Rullman Hunger Funeral Home, Aurora. Burial was in the Greendale Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the funeral home to defray expenses.
