Todd LeVon Winters

Former businessman, Todd LeVon Winters, 53 of Loveland, Ohio and formerly of Batesville and Milan, passed away Saturday, September 14, 2013 at the Hospice of Cincinnati following a lengthy illness.

Todd was born Wednesday, August 24, 1960 in Batesville, the son of LeVon and Joan (Ashcraft) Winters. He was married to Lee (Eckert) Winters, who survives.

Todd owned and operated Winters Insurance in Milan and Batesville for several years. He was a 1978 graduate of East Central High School and was a trumpet player in the band. He was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church at Milan and a former member of the Milan Town Board.

Todd was a former member of the Hillcrest Country Club and a charter member of the Rotary Club both at Batesville. He was an avid Colts fan, loved cars and motorcycles, but his children were his special thing in life.

Survivors include his wife, Lee and son Jacob Winters both of Loveland, Ohio; daughter Madison Winters of Batesville; parents, LeVon and Joan Winters of Milan; mother-in-law, Nancy Giannella of Loveland, father in law and wife John and Carol Eckert of Seattle, Washington; uncle Charles Ashcraft and wife Ruth of Versailles; and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law Jody and Bill Karst.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21 at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home, Milan with Rev. Harris Long officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery north of Milan. Fleeta Bell Smith

Fleeta Bell Smith, 77, of Versailles, passed away Sunday, September 15, 2013 at her home. She was born near Vevay on August 4, 1936, the daughter of Leroy and Bernice Thornton Phillips.

Survivors include one daughter, Jodie Grossman of Versailles; two sons, Tim Peters of Madison, and Duane Sizemore and companion Peggy Murray of Napoleon; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Lee Phillips.

Mrs. Smith was a former employee of the Tyson Library in Versailles, Ripley Publishing Co., and retired from US Shoe in Osgood. Fleeta was a member of the Hopewell Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 18 at 10:30 a.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home with Rev. Dan Barringer officiating. Burial will be in the Salem Cemetery at Cross Plains. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. Memorials may be given to the Hopewell Baptist ABY in care of the funeral home.

Gordon Eugene Wilson

Gordon Eugene Wilson, 75 of Osgood, passed away Sunday, September 15, 2013 at the Decatur County Memorial Hospital in Greensburg. He was born June 24, 1938 in Ripley County, the son of Ernie and Mollie Rogers Wilson. 

Gordon had been a farmer all of his life and also especially enjoyed raising cattle.  He had been a carpenter. The Church of Christ in Versailles, along with Solid Rock Bible Fellowship Church in Napoleon, were two of the church's that he attended.  Gordon loved dancing and listening to country and gospel music. 

Survivors include sons, Gary Eugene (Michelle) Wilson of Brookville, Robert James (April) Wilson of Milan, and Neal (Becky) Wilson of Milan; brother, Shellie (Marian) Wilson of Napoleon; sisters, Margaret "Jig" Peterson of Cincinnati, OH, Cora Lee Craft of Middletown, OH, Fay Paxton of Danville, IL, Judy Moore of Sherman, TX; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Ernie, Wm., J. C., Ray and Elzie Wilson; and two sisters, Jose Staley and Clara Peterson.

Visitation will be Thursday, September 19, at Neal's Funeral Home from 4-7 p.m. Funeral services will be Friday, September 20, at the funeral home at 10 a.m. with burial at the Old Milan Cemetery. Dorothy Miller, 88 of Moores Hill, passed away Sunday, September 15, 2013.
