James Mackenzie “Spud” Saylor

James Mackenzie “Spud” Saylor, 26 of Hanover, passed away Sunday, September 29, 2013 in a single car accident near Hanover. He was born June 19, 1987 at Madison, the son of James Eugene Saylor and Heather R. Richmond.

Survivors include his fiancee, Holly Marie Richardson of Hanover; mother, Heather R. Richmond and her companion, Jerry Roark of Osgood; father, James Eugene Saylor of Deputy; maternal grandmother, Nancy Nickell of Washington; maternal grandpa, Mark Richmond of Versailles; maternal great grandma, Isabell Richmond of Versailles; paternal grandparents, Jim and Donna Saylor of Scottsburg; father-in-law and mother-in-law, David and Sherry Richardson of Hanover; uncles and aunts, Darrin Perry of Vincennes, Carrie Richmond of Greensburg, Mandy Richmond of Greensburg, Glenna Saylor of Deputy; nephews, Cody, Curt, Gage and Ashton Thurnall; several cousins, great aunts, great uncles and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his maternal great grandpa Vern Richmond, and maternal great grandparents, Bub and Virginia Liter.
Spud spent most of his life in the Madison community and was a 2005 graduate of Madison Consolidated High School, where he played football. He had worked construction for several years and had worked in the past for McDonald’s of Madison. He currently was working for Arby’s Restaurant in Madison.

Spud had recently became engaged to Holly Marie Richardson. They had recently found out she was three months pregnant and Spud was so happy to know he was to be a daddy. He was baptized and was a member of the Hanover Baptist Church in Hanover.
Spud loved hunting, fishing, video games, pool, music and was a great lover of life and living it to the fullest.

Funeral services will be Sunday, October 6, at 2 p.m. at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, Madison, with Pastor J.D. Traylor officiating. Burial will be in the New Prospect Cemetery near Saluda. Visitation will be Sunday, October 6, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Ida Mary Pruiett

Ida Mary Pruiett, 86, of Osgood and formerly of Independence, KY, passed away Monday, September 30, 2013 at Manderley Health Care Center in Osgood.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 3 at 7 p.m. at Neal’s Funeral Home in Osgood with Rev. Michael Camack officiating. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until the time of the service. A committal service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 4 at Alexandria Cemetery in Kentucky.

Ida was born March 14, 1927 in Alexandria, KY, the daughter of the late Edward Douglas and Patty Wade McDonald Glover. She later married Byron Cecil Pruiett upon his return home from WWII on September 8, 1945. He preceded her in death on November 16, 2001. She attended Bethany Baptist Church in Osgood.

Mrs. Pruiett had owned and operated the “24 Hour Chili” restaurant in Elrod during the 1960s. Also, during the 1960s Ida was a cook at the bowling alley in Lawrenceburg. She later worked for the US Shoe Factory for about 10 years when it first came to Osgood and also the dry cleaners in Osgood. She retired in 1990 at age 70 from the K-Mart in Newport, KY after 10 years of employment.
She is survived by three sons, John (Carol) Pruiett of Prairie Grove, AR, Paul Pruiett of Newport, KY, and Gary (Linda) Pruiett of Cincinnati, OH; three daughters, Judy (John) Jones of Osgood, Pam (Eddie) Turner of Erlanger, KY, and Shirley (Bob) Spicer of Alexandria, KY; a brother, Walter Glover of Dayton, KY; nine grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Ida was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Patty Glover; husband, Byron Pruiett; son, Byran Pruiett; grandson, Gary Pruiett; five brothers and four sisters.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Bethany Baptist Church. Neal’s Funeral Home, Osgood, is in charge of arrangements.

 

Jimmy Dale Greenwood

Jimmy Dale Greenwood, 71, of New Castle, formerly of Milan, went to be with his Lord Friday, September 27, 2013 in his home following a brief illness. He was born May 31, 1942 in Pierceville.

A loving father and husband, Jimmy was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired from Chrysler Corporation in Kokomo and also served as a Prairie Creek Park Ranger. He was a member of the Church of Christ on Co. Rd. 200 north of New Castle. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and collecting many things.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 51 years, Rita Greenwood, whom he married May 23, 1962; three sons, Jimmy Dale Jr. (wife, Julie) Greenwood of New Castle; Rodney Greenwood of New Castle, and Jerry (wife, Cindie) Greenwood of New Castle; a daughter, Angie Richey of New Castle; ten grandchildren, Mike, Zach and Drew Greenwood, Chase, Hope, and Hanna Richey, Trinidy and Colton Fisher, Mitchell Smith and Mason Bogue. Also, five siblings, Donna (husband, George) Slayback of Osgood, Sandy (husband, Danny) Massengale of New Castle, Larry Hinman of New Castle, Kathy Catron of New Castle, and Sherry (husband, Danny) Acrey of New Castle; special family friends, Fred and Vicki Frohmuth of Muncie, special cousin, Eddie Bocock, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Greenwood; his mother and step-father: Helen and Walter “Ed” Hinman; and a brother William Robert “Billy Bob” Hinman.

Memorial services were held Tuesday, October 1, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Phil Morgan officiating. Burial will be in Hillsboro Cemetery at a later date. Roberta Geraldine “Gerry” Shadday Riley

Roberta Geraldine “Gerry” Shadday Riley, 90, of Madison, passed away Sunday, September 29, 2013. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 5 at 2 p.m. at the Macedonia Baptist Church near Moorefield, with burial in the Macedonia Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4-8 p.m. at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, Madison, and Saturday from 12 p.m. until time of services at the church. Roberta Hensley, 65 of Guilford, passed away Tuesday October 1, 2013.
