Another battle between neighboring rival Jac-Cen-Del Lady Eagle and South Ripley Lady Raider volleyball teams proved once again to be a positive investment for the sports fan.

Leaving it all on the hardwood would be a fair assessment of the two matches, both the JV and varsity worked vigorously to earn a last regular season scheduled victory.

The Lady Raiders wanting to defeat the Lady Eagles at the Eagles Nest and the Lady Eagles wanting to deny that being a possibility.

JV Action Results
The apparent out playing by the hosting JCD Lady Eagles over the visiting South Ripley Lady Raiders JV in their 12-25 opening game loss to JCD led one to believe that this could be a shortened night at the gym.

A 5-0 start by the Lady Eagles led to an 8-1 advantage, 13-6, 17-9 and ended at 25-12; however, first impressions based on the opening game score, gave no fair assessment of what was in store for the balance of the evenings competition.

The Lady Raiders managed to pull off a 25-24 victory in JV game two of the match to require a rubber game to 15. Game two ties were recorded at 5, 6, 9, 11, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 19, 20, 21 and 24.

Game three to 15 also ran to the wire with the Lady Raiders winning the best of three match by a final count of 15-14.

A third set found ties only at one and 14 before the SR JV cashed in on their 15-14 season ending two game to one match victory.

Lady Eagle senior volleyball player and Lady Eagle senior golfer recognition followed the JV match. Recognized were senior Lady Eagle golfers Sydney Keene and Brooklyn Ronsheim along with their parents.

Lady Eagle senior volleyball team members included: Shelbie Harmeyer (6), Danielle Newhart (10), Lindsey Sutton (2), Jillian Gehl (9), Tori Walke (7), Skila Catron (4) and Laura Detmer (5).

The 2013 South Ripley Lady Raiders had no senior golf nor volleyball team members.

Varsity Action Results
The varsity match got off with similar action as game one had ties at: 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12, 13, 14 and 16, before ending in a JCD Lady Eagle six point 25-19 victory.

Game two action resulted in ties at: 1, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9, 10, 11, 12, 15, 19, 20, 21 and 22 before the SR Lady Raiders pulled off the 25-22 win.

In game 3, ties were recorded at: 3, 24 and 25 with Lady Eagle senior Jillian Gehl serving up the JCD 27-25 win.

The best of five varsity match concluded in game 4 with ties noted at 13 and 14 before the hosting Lady Eagles prevailed by a final count of 25-18 with JCD Lady Eagle senior Tori Walke serving up the winning shot.
