Wilma M. Myers

Wilma M. Myers, 89, of Rexville, passed away Saturday, December 14, 2013, at Ross Manor in Dillsboro. She was born near Butlerville in Jennings County on June 20, 1924, the daughter of Dennis and Verna Stratton Israel.

Survivors include five sons, Ken (Barbara) Myers of Versailles, Norman (Barbara) Myers of Rexville, Danny (Brenda) Myers of New Marion, Mert (Janet) Myers of Versailles, and Jr. (Linda) Myers of Dillsboro; one daughter, Mary (Tom) Allen of Edwardsburg, Michigan; 11 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren; and one sister, Mary May of Indianapolis. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brothers Charles Israel and James Israel.

Mrs. Myers was a 1941 graduate of New Marion High School. She was a former employee of Arvin Industries in North Vernon and retired in 1989 after 28 years with Reliance Electric in Madison. Wilma was a member of the New Marion Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 19 at 11 a.m. at the New Marion Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Culp officiating. Burial will be in the Holton Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles and from 10 a.m. until time of services Thursday at the church. Memorials may be given to the Holton Cemetery or the New Marion Baptist Church in care of the funeral home.

Dudley Ray Jones

Dudley Ray Jones, age 84 of Osgood, passed away Wednesday, December 11, 2013, at Decatur County Memorial Hospital, Greensburg. He was born December 27, 1928, in Osgood. His parents were Earle and Cleo Alline Mitchell Jones.

Ray graduated from Osgood High School in 1949 and then went on to receive special training in meat cutting and produce from Purdue University. Using this special training, he went to work for the Osgood Super Market and Vollmers Store back in 1946 until 1968.

On April 29, 1950, Ray married his beloved Shirley Ann Hosmer. From 1969 to 1972, he and Shirley owned and operated a country store in Brooksburg. In his later years, he owned Ray’s Garage in Osgood from 1972 to 1982. He was also a member of the Osgood United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Ann Hosmer Jones of Osgood; sons, John D. (Joanna) Jones of Indianapolis, Alan (Paula) Jones of Martinsville, Jeffrey Jones of St. Petersburg, FL; daughters, Cathy Lafary of Champaign, IL, Julie (Jason) Ferguson of Dupont; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one grandson, Clarence Matthew McKay in 1989.

Funeral services were held all in one day, Saturday, December 14 at Neal’s Funeral Home, Osgood with burial in the Greendale Cemetery near Osgood. Memorials may be given to the family. Arrangements were entrusted to Neal’s Funeral Home, Osgood; www.nealsfuneralhome.net.

William “Bill” G. Hensley

William “Bill” G. Hensley, 70, of Greenfield, passed away Sunday, December 8, 2013. A funeral service was held on Thursday, December 12, at 11 a.m. at the Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory in Greenfield. Ladonna Mae Jordan

Ladonna Mae Jordan, 70, of Manchester, passed away Friday, December 13, 2013. Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 17 from 4-8 p.m. at Meyers Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the New Testament Baptist Church in Penntown. Burial will follow in the New Busse Cemetery in Manchester. Memorials may be given to the New Testament Baptist Church Youth Programs in care of Meyers Funeral Home, Batesville, who is in charge of arrangements.
