Milan Indians fall to Triton Central 6-31

Gary Franklin
SPORTS EDITOR

The Milan High School hosted IHSAA Football Sectional 39 Championship game, played on Friday night, November 7, resulted in less than a favorable outcome for the Tribe and their supportive fans, as the team fell 6-31 to the visiting Triton Central Tigers; however, the support prior to the game with a tailgate party sponsored by George’s Pharmacy, was an inspiring precursor to the big game.

The Game

FIRST QUARTER
Even though the hosting Indians were first to receive, the TC, Tigers gained the early lead with a running TD and the addition of a PAT for a 7-0 lead near the 9:30 mark of the first quarter.

SECOND QUARTER
The Tribe broke the scoreboard ice with a TD score by junior Michael Thompson (23); however, the attempted PAT was blocked, leaving TC on top 7-6. Only seconds later, TC mounted an additional TD and TC scored another TD and PAT with just under two and a half minutes remaining in the half, they entered the halftime breakup by 15 at 21-6.

THIRD QUARTER
Forced to settle with only scoring a FG in the third period, TC was up with an 18 point edge at 24-6, heading to the final period.

FOURTH QUARTER
With just under nine minutes to go in regulation, TC added another TD and PAT to lead 31-6, where the score remained at final horn's sounding, ending the Tribe’s extended season run.
