Elsie Louise Freudenstein

Elsie Louise Freudenstein, 76, passed away on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 in her Matthews, North Carolina, home. Surrounded over the past few months by those to whom she devoted her life, Elsie went home to be with the Lord peacefully.

Born September 5, 1938, to James Edward and Ethel Mae Brooks, Elsie was the youngest of seven children. She was preceded in death by her parents and six siblings. This amazing mother is survived by her three children Cyndi Coupland (David), Greg Allen (Michelle) and Kim Dicen (Matt). Delighted to be a grandmother, Elsie spent the last fifteen years of her life spoiling, kissing, and hugging her four grandchildren Jack, Nicholas, Mary Beth and Rammy. A superior cook, comedian, friend, mother and grandmother, Elsie left all who knew her a little better off than before they met her.

A celebration of Elsie’s life will be held Saturday, December 27 at the Fellowship Hall of Tyson United Methodist Church in Versailles, from 1–4 p.m. Please join family and friends for light refreshments and many memories and laughs. In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates your donations to one of the following. The Red Barn Foundation, 2700 Bailey Road; Leeds, AL 35094, (www.theredbarnfoundation.org) provides equine assisted activities to individuals, especially children, who have special abilities and circumstances. Gladys Leona Forwalt

Gladys Leona Forwalt, 73, of Osgood, was born April 6, 1941 in Millhousen. She was the daughter of the late Phillip and Audrey Leona Smith Powers Sr. She married Edward John Forwalt on June 5, 1958 and he preceded her in death on January 13, 2005.

Gladys had been an employee of Firestone Tire Plant in Marietta, GA and prior to this she had worked approximately 20 years at the US Shoe Plant in Osgood. Having raised six children, her family expressed that she had been an excellent cook! Gardening and working with her flowers were her favorite hobbies.

Gladys passed away Saturday, December 20, 2014 at the King’s Daughters’ Hospital in Madison. Survivors include sons, Jerry Forwalt of Osgood and Rickey (Bertie) Forwalt of North Vernon; daughters, Debbie (Sam) Brown of Osgood, Cindy (Benny) Smith of Butlerville, Sandy (Dana) Lewis of North Vernon and Edwina Caffee of Osgood; 16 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren; brothers, Anthony Powers of Napoleon, Richard Powers of Harrison, Ohio, and Phillip Powers Jr. of Napoleon; sister, Joanna Hendricks of Bloomington. She was preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth and one sister, Barbara Walterman.

Visitation will be Tuesday, Dec. 23 at Neal’s Funeral Home, Osgood from 5-7 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 24 at the funeral home, at 10 a.m., doors open at 9 a.m. Burial will be in the Mud Pike Cemetery, Osgood. Memorials may be given to the donor’s choice or Mud Pike Cemetery. Neal’s Funeral Home, Osgood, is entrusted with arrangements.


Paul Edward Randall

Paul Edward Randall, 69, of Hanover, passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2014. Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 20, at the Point of Grace Family Praise Fellowship, Madison. Burial was in the Grandview Memorial Gardens, Madison. Memorials may be given in memory of Paul to the Paul E. Randall Memorial Fund, contribution cards are available at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, Madison, who was in charge of arrangements. Joyce Rice, 78, of Osgood, passed away Thursday, December 18, 2014. Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 20, at Neal’s Funeral Home, Osgood with burial in the Perseverance Cemetery, Osgood.
