Jac-Cen-Del Lady Eagles on a tear…
You just may be on the ladies’ list!

Making a statement that they are indeed the real deal, the 2014-15 IHSAA Class 1A Jac-Cen-Del Lady Eagles varsity, led by veteran Head Coach Scott Smith have only been defeated once and that was by the IHSAA Class 4A East Central Lady Trojans.

Pictured from left, Jac-Cen-Del Lady Eagle starters: senior Jacqlyn Menchhofer (50), freshman Lilly Simon (22), senior Jenna Hughes (12), senior Kelsey Bowling (14) and junior Jordan Day (30) get a last second pointer from Head Coach Scott Smith (below) before they are called out onto the hardwood to address the challenge afforded by yet another competitor.

JCD Head Coach Scott Smith Jac-Cen-Del Lady Eagles victories recorded to date include (without the production of senior Jenna Hughes, junior Abby Wagner nor freshman Morgen Carroll for their first two games) a 52-24 over the visiting Rising Sun Lady Shiners and 35-34 over the hosting South Ripley Lady Raiders. Operating with a full team except for an “on the mend” injured Abby Wagner, the Lady Eagles varsity victories have included a 42-36 over the hosting Oldenburg Academy Lady Twisters, 71-30 over the visiting Milan Lady Indians, 47-45 over the hosting Batesville Lady Bulldogs, 56-35 over the hosting Hauser Lady Jets, 58-23 over the visiting South Dearborn Lady Knights, 64-20 over the visiting Waldron Lady Mohawks, 53-27 over the hosting North Decatur Lady Chargers and Monday’s Dec. 22 game with an 87-49 crushing victory over the visiting South Decatur Lady Cougars, rounds out their path.

Appropriately, the first period action executed in the JCD Lady Eagles vs. South Decatur Lady Cougar varsity basketball battle held at JCDHS on Monday night, Dec. 22, could have been titled “Simontized,” as it and the SD Lady Cougars literally belonged to JCD freshman Lilly Simon (22).
Simon may be young, but her basketball ability and desire are obvious. That was evident once again in this contest, as she scored 12 of the Lady Eagles first quarter 20 point total to only nine for the SD team as a whole.
The rest of the game was a slide for the Lady Eagles, a slide to a final count at 87 to 49.
