Ronnie D. May

Ronnie D. May, 60, of Versailles, passed away Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati. He was born at Batesville on May 18, 1954, the son of Stanley and Catherine Farrell May. He was married to Theresa Jewell on June 21, 1975 and she survives.

Other survivors include his mother Catherine May of Versailles; one son Jared D. May of Osgood; one daughter Crystal (Charles) Raison also of Osgood; one sister Linda (Barry) Borter of Holton; four brothers Gerald (Elena) May of Parrish, Florida, Eddie May of Jamestown, and Richard (Betty) May and David (Melissa) May both of Versailles. He was preceded in death by his father.

Mr. May was a 1973 graduate of South Ripley High School. He retired after 37 years with Delta Faucet and was currently working as a plant operator for Best Metal Finishing in Osgood. Ronnie was a member of the Cedar Creek Community Church and the Heartland Classic Cruisers Car Club. He was an avid bowler and fisherman.

Funeral services were held on Monday, December 29 at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles. Burial will be in the New Marion Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the New Marion Cemetery or the donor’s choice in care of the funeral home.


Sharla Jane Hensley

Sharla Jane Hensley, 74, of Holton, passed away Saturday, December 20, 2014, at the Waters of Batesville. She was born near Holton on September 3, 1940 the daughter of Wilbur and Belva Knight Beach.

Survivors include three sons, Ray Hensley and David Beach both of Holton, and Jay Hensley of Indianapolis; one daughter, Regina Benham of Oldenburg. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her daughter Yvonne Smith.
Mrs. Hensley had worked as a cook at the Muscatatuck State Developmental Center.

Services were held at the convenience of the family with the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home of Versailles in charge of arrangements.


Arlene F. Courtney Coss

Arlene F. Courtney Coss, 59, of Indianapolis, formerly of Madison, passed away Friday, December 26, 2014. Memorial services will be held on Jan. 2, 2015, at 1 p.m. at Stevens Mortuary, 5520 West 10th Street in Indianapolis. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Sat., January 3, 2015 at the Grandview Memorial Gardens, 9306 North U.S. 421 near Madison. Visitation will be held on Fri., January 2, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Stevens Mortuary, Indianapolis. Memorials may be made to Lide White Memorial Boys and Girls Club “Courtney Family Memorial Scholarship Fund”. Cards are available at the funeral homes. Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, Madison, is in charge of arrangements.

Albert Shelton “Dutch” Lanham


Albert Shelton “Dutch” Lanham, 86, of North Vernon, passed away Saturday, December 27, 2014. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30, at the Dove – Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, North Vernon. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the funeral on Tuesday. Burial will be at the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon, with military graveside rites. Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the Jefferson Presbyterian Church in Canaan. Dove – Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, North Vernon, is in charge of arrangements.

Gold Rosetta (Rutherford) Benge

Golda Rosetta (Rutherford) Benge, 82, of Milan, passed away Wednesday, December 24, 2014. Funeral services were held Sat., December 27, 2014 at Hope Baptist Church, Dillsboro with burial in Broyles Cemetery in Pioneer, TN at a later date. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children Fund. Alma Louise Vierling

Alma Louise Vierling, 85, of Batesville, passed away Saturday, December 27, 2014. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 31, from 1 p.m. until time of services at 2 p.m. all at St. Mark Lutheran Church. Burial will follow services at St. Louis Church Cemetery. Lucian H. Frye

Lucian H. Frye, 85, of Peppertown, died Saturday, December 27, 2014. Visitation will be Tuesday, Dec. 30 from 4-8 p.m. and funeral services will be Wednesday, Dec. 31 at 10 a.m., all at New Point Christian Church. Memorials may be given to the church. Alfred W. “Al” McKinley

Alfred W. “Al” McKinley, 84, of Milan, passed away Monday, December 29, 2014 at the Seasons in Milan. Al was born Monday, January 6. 1930 in Moores Hill, the son of John Wesley and Virginia (Craig) McKinley. He married Dirtha L. (Peters) McKinley June 6, 1959 and she preceded him in death June 7, 2010.

Al worked in the body shop at Chris Volz Motors for many years. His passion was working on cars and fixing them up like new for people. He loved his Nash Metropolitan and Datsun pickup truck. Al was a 51 year member of the Sparta Baptist Church and had been a member of the IOOF Odd Fellows Lodge. He also enjoyed fishing, doing jig-saw puzzles and spending time with his family.

Al is survived by daughter, Robin C. McKinley of Lawrenceburg and brother Richard Gene McKinley of Milan.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, January 2, at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home, Milan with Pastor Rick Burcham officiating. Burial will follow in New Craven Cemetery at Milan. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Thursday and 9-11 a.m., Friday also at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to either Sparta Baptist Church or Margaret Mary Hospice. Amanda Stoltzfus, 3 months old, of Rexville, passed away Monday, December 22, 2014.
