Kenneth Lee Kuhlman

Kenneth Lee Kuhlman, 69 of Cross Plains, passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at The Waters of Dillsboro-Ross Manor following a long illness. He was born on July 5, 1944 to Edgar P. and Marida L (Luke) Kuhlman.

He was baptized, confirmed, and a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Farmers Retreat. In 1962, Ken graduated from Dillsboro High School and enlisted in the US Army. He served from August 1962 to August 1965 and was honorably discharged as a SP5 (T). He was discharged two weeks early to attend the funeral of his 16-year-old brother.

After the Army, Ken was employed at Aurora Casket Co. for six years before his employment at the State Highway Dept. as a heavy equipment operator. Ken retired in August 2007 after 36 years with the State Hwy Dept. Ken served on various church office positions at St. John’s Lutheran Church as well as doing church lawn care. His hobbies were radio and TV repair, locksmith, small engine repair, and lawn care for people.

Survivors include two sisters, Kathy (Steve) Utter of Dillsboro and Judy Kuhlman of Ocala, Fla.; two nieces, Kris (Ronnie) Hensley and Sarah (Kevin) Thomas and one nephew Thomas (Deanna) Utter. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother.

Funeral services were held Saturday, May 3 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Farmers Retreat with burial at St. John’s Cemetery. Rev. Garry Wickert will officiate and DeVries Funeral Home in Dillsboro was entrusted with the arrangements. Memorials in his name may be given to St. John’s Lutheran Church Improvement Fund or St. John’s Cemetery.


Marjorie Emma Meyer

Marjorie Emma Meyer, 87, of Dillsboro, Sunday, May 4, 2014. She was the daughter of William Cutter and Flora Vornheder Cutter, and was married to Harold Meyer since 1956.

Marjorie was the organist at Bear Branch St. Peter Lutheran Church for 63 years.

Funeral services will be Sat., May 10 at 11 a.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Bear Branch, with visitation Fri., May 9 from 5-8 p.m. at DeVries Funeral Home in Dillsboro. A complete obituary will appear in Thursday’s paper

Shari Lynn Stehlin

Shari Lynn Stehlin, 64 of Milan, passed away Wednesday April 30, 2014. Funeral services were held Saturday May 3 at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home, Milan. Burial was in St. Paul Methodist Cemetery in Sunman. Memorials may be given to the family. Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements. Mark Wm. Ashcraft

Mark Wm. Ashcraft, 63, of Osgood, passed away Thursday, May 1, 2014. Services will be private. Arrangements were made by Neal’s Funeral Home, Osgood.

Sally L. McKittrick

Sally L. McKittrick, 67 of Milan, passed away Saturday, May 3, 2014 at Ripley Crossing in Milan. She was born Tuesday, March 18, 1947, in Greensburg, the daughter of Alvin and Ruth (McLafferty) Heller. She married Philip McKittrick on April 1, 1967, and he survives.

Sally drove the #15 school bus for Milan schools for many years, and later went to work for Seagram’s. Sally belonged to Hope Baptist Church and the Milan Ladies Auxiliary. She liked to go golfing, fishing, and camping. Sally had a great passion for animals, but her family and grandchildren are what she treasured the most.

Sally is survived by husband Philip McKittrick of Milan; son Steven McKittrick and fiancé Lora Gaylord of Milan; daughter Melissa (Kurt) Dickman of Milan; brother Tim (Judy) Heller of Muncie; sister Sharon (Jim) Boyd of Indianapolis; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, May 7, at Hope Baptist Church, Dillsboro, with Tom Holt officiating. Burial will be in New Cravens Cemetery south of Milan. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m., Tuesday May 6 at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home.
