David Leslie Shaw

David Leslie Shaw, 53, of Versailles, died Sunday June 15, 2014, as a result of a motorcycle accident. He was born Friday, August 5, 1960 in Germany, the son of David Roy and Barbara (Holzer) Shaw. He married Kathryn (Guard) Shaw on Saturday, August 14, 1982, and she survives.

David was an employee of the Batesville Casket Co. and was a member of the Amvets of Versailles. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, motorcycles, computers and being “Mr. Handyman” helping out his family friends and neighbors. He also enjoyed being Santa Claus during the holiday season.

David is survived by his wife, Kathryn; sons, David Allen (Cherry), Billy Ray (Chailley), and Terry Lee Moody Jr. all of Versailles; mother, Barbara Shaw of Versailles; sisters, Cindy Burnham and Patty Young both of Versailles; and five grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 20, at 11 a.m. at the Versailles Church of Christ, Versailles, with Dale Day officiating. Burial will follow in New Craven Cemetery at Milan. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Thursday at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home, Milan. Memorials may be given in his memory to the Versailles American Legion Post. Daniel Boone Edwards

Daniel Boone Edwards, 69, of North Vernon, passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2014. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 20, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon, with funeral visitation from 10 a.m. until time of service. Wanda Teer, Milan, passed away Wednesday afternoon, June 18, 2014 at her home. Services are pending at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home, Milan.

Wilma J. Elmer

Wilma J. (nee Brickner) Elmer, 84, of Sun City Center, Fla. passed away Thursday, June 5, 2014. She was born in Bright, and worked at the same company for 40 years as a senior benefits accountant at Fernald Ohio.

She was a member of the Prince of Peace Catholic Church. She served the Daughters of American Revolution as a member of their scholarship committee and as recording secretary for several years. She was active in The American Business Woman’s Association and was a long-time friend and supporter of the Tillers and Toilers as well as many other community, civic and charitable organizations. She and her husband, Bob Elmer were supporters and volunteers at the food pantry for many years and the Sun City Center Security Patrol.

She was preceded in death by her late husband, Bob Brickner. They were married for 50 years.


She is survived by her husband Bob Elmer of 12 years; three sons, Doug (Stephanie), Greg (Stacey) & Glenn; brother, John Blaisdel; two sisters, Lois (Norman) Gellert and Alice (George) Rustemeyer; three grandchildren, Elizabeth, Michael & Van; 56 nieces and nephews and hundreds of wonderful friends and neighbors.

A celebration Mass will be held in her honor at 11 a.m., Friday, June 27, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Sun City Center, Fla. A light lunch will follow Mass and then a trip to Fellowship Cemetery, her final resting place. Memorials be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma society. N. Eileen Grizard

N. Eileen Grizard, 91 of Scipio, passed away Monday, June 16, 2014 at her home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 19, at the Scipio Presbyterian Church in Scipio. Naomi Horstman-Schebler, 69, of Batesville, passed away Monday, June 16, 2014. Memorials may be given to Danny Thomas’ St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital. Visitation will be Thursday, June 19 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon with funeral immediately following at the Meyer’s Funeral Home, Batesville. Burial will be in the Batesville United Methodist Cemetery. Meyers Funeral Home, Batesville, is in charge of arrangements.
