Milan HS Tribe to host varsity football season opener against South Dearborn Knights

Gary Franklin
SPORTS EDITOR

Milan High School will open their 2014 football season Friday night, August 15, at 7 p.m. under the direction of Athletic Director John Prifogle. They will host the South Dearborn Knights. The Indians have gone through many lineup changes after graduation, as well as having a new program leader in the head coaches position. This year’s team has reportedly thinned down with fewer members slated on the annual roster that includes nine seniors, 10 juniors, seven sophomores and 13 freshmen.

Pictured above are the 2014 Milan Indians Football team and student managers who are ready for grid action!

Last year’s back up quarterback Blane Beck, found himself called into action last season during QB Gavin Detraz injuries and proved himself to be quite capable of getting the job done. That experience should add to his confidence as QB and the team’s as well, knowing he can handle the pressure put on him.

The Tribe’s new head coach is Rob Page, accompanied by Defensive Coordinator Randy Combs. Coaching assistants include Mike Brandes, Danny Craig, Rich Healy, Bryan Beeler, Ryan Langferman and Cliff Willoughby.

Cheer coaches include Jennifer Wullenweber and Judy White with cheerleader squad members Emily Fuller, Kristen Honeycutt, Ashley Cavins, Kelsey Holbert, Shelby Wullenweber, Kiera Hall, Courtney Cann, Jessica Berger, Morgan Meyer, Winona Hopson, Kristina Marksberry, Sierra Kern, Taylor Amberger, and Lexi West.

Drill team coaches are Angie Amberger and Jennifer Wullenweber along with dance team members Kelsey Holbert, Kristen Honeycutt, Hannah Lewis, Ashley Cavins, Alexis Amberger, Teresa Jenkins, Cara Walters, Shelby Wullenweber, Savannah Kern, Jessica Berger, Morgan Meyer, Sierra Kern, Taylor Amberger, and Rebecca Schmidt.
