Robert C. Asche


Robert C. Asche, 86, of Osgood, passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2015, at the Margaret Mary Community Hospital in Batesville. He was born near Delaware on March 29, 1928, the son of Charles and Esther Raney Asche. He was married to Dorothy Wood Pettit on February 14, 1996 and she survives.

Other survivors include two sons, Randall Asche of Greensburg and Kevin Asche of Columbus; one daughter, Laura Jordan of Greensburg; step-daughter Helen McNeely of Norfolk, Virginia; eight grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Floyd (Christine) Asche of Delaware, Gene (Faye) Asche of Illinois, and Leroy Asche of Cameron, North Carolina; two sisters, Clara Felix of Delaware, and Sylvia Spurr of Indianapolis. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Goldie Richter, his brothers Carl Asche, Herschel Asche, and Gerald Asche, stepson Bruce Pettit, and stepdaughter Mary Campbell.

Mr. Asche was a former employee of Bonn Aluminum in Greensburg, Delta Faucet in Greensburg, the Decatur County REMC and Southeastern Indiana REMC in Osgood.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 16 at 12 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Don Buck officiating. Burial will be in the Cliff Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 10 a.m. until time of services. Memorials may be given to the Cliff Hill Cemetery in care of the funeral home.


Robert E. Kirk, Jr.


Robert E. Kirk, Jr., 57, of Lawrenceburg, passed away Sunday, January 11, 2015, at his home. He was born in Sullivan, Indiana on April 6, 1957 the son of Robert Sr. and Dixie Morrison Kirk.

Survivors include his father and stepmother Robert,Sr. and Beth Kirk of Rexville; six brothers, Ricky (Becky) Kirk of North Judson, Steven Kirk of Valparaiso, Gary (Daphne) Kirk of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Randy (Lisa) Kirk of Versailles, and Dale (Marilynn) Kirk of Butlerville; two sisters, Cheryl Moore of Lafayette, and Vicki (Steve) Taylor of Rexville. He was preceded in death by his mother, and his son Robert Kirk III.

Mr. Kirk worked as a boilermaker and pipefitter and had been employed with Inland Steel in East Chicago and also with North American Stainless Steel in Ghent, Kentucky.

A celebration of Robert’s life will be held on Saturday, January 17 at 1 p.m. at the Point of Grace Fellowship Church in Madison with Pastor Adam Faulkner officiating. For further information friends may contact the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles.


James Vaughn DeLay


James “Jamie” Vaughn DeLay, age 51, of Osgood, entered this life December 14, 1963, in Batesville. James was preceded in death by his parents, Basil and Jerie DeLay and one sister, Jan Baker.

James had a great love for camping, boating and horseback riding with his family. He was also an avid fan of football and Nascar racing. One of his favorite things was chocolate milkshakes.

He is survived by three sons Tyler, Justin and Conner; and the children’s mother, Tricia DeLay, all of Osgood. He is also survived by one sister and brother-in-law, John and Jodie Niemeyer of Palm City, Florida and one aunt and uncle, Keith and Terri Watson of Moores Hill. Also surviving are numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held all in one day, Saturday, Jan. 17 at Neal’s Funeral Home, Osgood. Visitation will be from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. with funeral services immediately following. Burial will be in the New Craven Cemetery in Milan. Arrangements are entrusted to Neal’s Funeral Home, Osgood. www.nealsfuneralhome.net.
