Eugene Alvin Oster

Eugene Alvin Oster passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2014, in Loveland, Colorado. He was born on November 25, 1938, in Versailles, to Albert and Roxanna Oster.

He is survived by his children Allyson Rodahl of Ft. Collins, Colorado, and husband Dean; Carmen Turrill of Redwood Valley, California, and husband Mark; and Stephen Oster of Morristown, Indiana, and wife Hannah; and grandchildren: Chance, Jacob, Taylor, Schuyler, Abigail, Jax, Lily and Emma.

Gene was a kind, quiet and thoughtful man who loved to read, study and research his many and varied interests. He was lifelong learner, copious notetaker and devourer of knowledge, having graduated with a BA in 1961 from Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana, and with an MA in 1993 from Ball State University in Muncie. He was a creative handyman who tinkered with problems until an efficient solution was found and implemented. He encouraged his children to pursue education and appreciate the joy of nature. He enjoyed hiking, especially in Estes Park, Colorado. He also devoured chocolate in all forms but was especially fond of peanut M&Ms and chocolate pie.

Family gathered in Estes Park to memorialize Gene and share memories. No other services are planned

Richard G. “RC” McKinley

Richard G. “RC” McKinley, 76, of Milan, formally of Moores Hill, passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at Ripley Crossing in Milan. RC was born Tuesday, December 13, 1938 in Moores Hill, the son of John Wesley and Virginia (Craig) McKinley. He married Linda (Stevens) McKinley on February 10, 1996 and she preceded him in death on August 29, 1997.

RC worked at Dolly Madison Inc. as a line worker. He was a member of the Sparta Baptist and Ludlow Hill Baptist churches. RC had been a member of the IOOF Odd Fellows Lodge. He also enjoyed playing the banjo, piano, collecting guns, re-finishing furniture and spending time with his family.

RC is survived by stepson Clayton Stevens; stepdaughter Heather (Timothy) Sides; and niece Robin McKinley. He was preceded in death by one brother, Alfred “Al” McKinley.

Funeral services were held Friday, January 2, at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home, Milan with Pastor Rick Burcham officiating. Burial was in Mt. Sinai Cemetery west of Aurora. Mildred J. Webster Crandell, 89, of Sanger, Texas, formerly of Madison, passed away Friday, January 2, 2015. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 7, at 1 p.m. at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, Madison with burial in the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1415 North Gate Road in Madison. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 6, from 5-8 p.m. and Wednesday from noon until the time of service at the funeral home. Vernon Leo ‘Blackie’ Rosfeld, 78, of Highland Center in Franklin County, passed away on Friday, January 2, 2015. Visitation will be from 9-11:30 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial immediately following, on Wednesday, January 7, all at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in St. Peters, IN.
