Mary Frances (Priddy) Reuter McFarland


Mary Frances (Priddy) Reuter McFarland, 91, of Prattsburg, (Milan), passed away at her residence Wednesday, February 18, 2015. Mary was born Friday, November 9, 1923 in Louisville, Kentucky, the daughter of Wiley and Jannie (Carey) Priddy. She was preceded in death by husbands Ernest Dale LaFollette, Carson Davis, Walter Reuter and Earl McFarland.

Mary was a CNA at Milan Health Care Center for 27 years. She loved her flowers, gardening, canning, quilting, sewing, and family time.

Survivors include sons, Steve (Joann) LaFollette and Roger LaFollette both of Connersville; daughters, Kay Roberts of Connersville, Kathy (Robert) Slayback of Indianapolis, Kim (Jody) Fledderman of Batesville, Mary (Dave) Lynch of Milan; daughter-in-law Jana LaFollette of Predmont, Alabama; brother, Charles Priddy of Laurel; and sister, Dovie Carpenter of Shelbyville, 23 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, and several great great grandchildren. Mary was preceded in death by her husbands, parents, son James LaFollette, granddaughter Bonnie LaFollette; brother William Priddy; sister Della McPherson.

Funeral services were held Saturday Feb. 21, at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home, Milan with Pastor Tom Holt officiating. Burial was in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery north of Milan. James E. Turner

James E. Turner, 84, of Milan, passed away Saturday, February 21, 2015, at the Waters of Scottsburg, Indiana. Jim was born Saturday March 15, 1930 in Milan, the son of Ova and Bessie Flora (Sebastian) Turner. He married Gloria D. (Ashcraft) Turner December 16, 1966 and she preceded him in death August 15, 2005.

Mr. Turner was an accountant and had owned and operated James Turner Accounting Service for several years. He served his country in the US Navy, and had attended the Tanglewood Baptist Church. Jim enjoyed traveling, eating out, and get-togethers with the family.

Jim is survived by daughters Devona (Jeff) Bonta of West Chester, Ohio, Cynthia (Greg) Foley of Hidden Valley, Shelly (Richard) Horn of Cincinnati, Dara (Todd) Stutler of Austin, Texas, Jo’Nee (late husband Tom) Cochran of Aurora; sons Mitchell (Sherry) Butler of Queen Creek, Arizona, Ronald David (Arlene) Turner of Austin, Texas; sisters Freida Adkins and Janet (Garry) Meierle both of Versailles, and Joyce (Jim) Jones of Burlington, Kentucky; 25 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and a host of friends. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, wife Gloria, son James E. Turner Jr; daughter Barbara Jo Turner; sisters Iva Stenger and Audrey Stenger, and brothers George and Donald Turner.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Thursday, February 26 at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home, Milan with Pastor Stephen Mullins of the Tanglewood Baptist Church of Versailles officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery at Dry Ridge, Kentucky with full military honors. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Kenneth Eldridge

Kenneth Eldridge, 83, of Milan, passed away Saturday, February 21, 2015. Friends may visit with the family from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, February 24, at Little Memory Old Regular Baptist Church. Robert Clark, Sr.

Robert Clark, Sr., of Osgood passed away at Decatur County Memorial Hospital in Greensburg. Services are pending at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home, Milan.

Bruce Edward Filsell

Bruce Edward Filsell, 72, of Versailles, passed away Sunday, February 22, 2015 at his home. He was born in Toronto, Canada on July 1, 1942, the son of Albert and Marjory Powell Filsell. Bruce became a citizen of the United States on September 17, 1965. He was married to Lauragene Cutter on September 22, 1984 and she survives.

Other survivors include two daughters, Laura (Paul) Freese of Batesville, and Laurene Wittmer of North Vernon; two grandsons, Justin Wittmer and Levi Freese; two step grandsons, Eric Freese and Kyle Freese; one brother, Edwin Filsell of North Carolina; one sister, Eileen Hobbs of Delaware. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Filsell was a mill wright and had been employed with US Borax in California and was also a UAW electrician and had been employed with INTAT in Rushville. He served with the US Air Force from 1960 to 1968 as an airplane mechanic with the 6510th Air Base Group. He received the Air Force Good Conduct Medal. Bruce was a member of the Versailles Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 26 at 11 a.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Burcham officiating. Burial will follow at a later date. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Memorials may be given to the Versailles American Legion in care of the funeral home.
