JCD Lady Eagles Softball Team continues their move up

Gary Franklin
SPORTS EDITOR

Members of the 2015 Jac-Cen-Del Lady Eagles Softball Team have found new enthusiasm and confidence behind the positive pitching by freshman Morgen Carroll. Carroll has been the change JCD has needed to give them a chance to truly compete, and her teammates are responding productively. All must battle in a team sport, but it all centers around a steady delivery by the pitching staff to establish order and some type of flow. Fortunately for JCD, only two seniors will vacate the team, leaving a nucleus of young team members who are looking forward to many years of competitiveness.

This year’s Lady Eagles softball program is led by Head Coach Jake Todd, an educator at JCD, with Josie Goldsberry his assistant and JV coach. Coach Todd’s wife is the new head coach for South Ripley Lady Raiders, adding another aspect to the long-time sports battle rivalry. Lady Eagles freshman Katie Gehl has also been a refreshing new pitcher seeing much time on the JV team and moving up for the varsity as well. A third pitcher returning for the Lady Eagles is Andrea Adams, with freshman Alli Borgman also finding mound duty at times.
