Raymond A. Allen


Raymond A. Allen, 78, of Madison, formerly of Holton, passed away at 9 p.m. Sunday, June 28, 2015 at the King’s Daughters’ Hospital in Madison. He was born near Sunman on November 4, 1936 the son of Aaron and Irene Lauber Allen. He was married to Rita Palmer on September 30, 1957 and she preceded him in death on May 8, 1983. He was married to Carol Jean Dennis in 1990 and she preceded him in death in 2004.

Survivors include one daughter, Pam Simpson of Madison; two sons, Larry (Lisa) Allen of Elkridge, Maryland, and Gary (Laurie) Allen of Moores Hill; eight grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; two brothers, Gene Allen of Dunreith, and Arthur Allen of Osgood. He was also preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Ernest Allen.

Mr. Allen was a 1955 graduate of Napoleon High School. He was employed with Cummins in Columbus from 1966 to 1987.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 1 at 10:30 a.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Bro. Bill Fields officiating. Burial will be in the Cliff Hill Cemetery in Versailles. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. Memorials may be given to the Ripley County Humane Society in care of the funeral home.


Donald L. Carpenter

Donald L. Carpenter, 83, of Versailles, passed away Sunday, June 28, 2015 at the Waters of Dillsboro. Don was born Tuesday, May 10, 1932 in Ohio County, Indiana, the son of Leroy and Ruth (Teke) Carpenter. He was married to Julia Ann Goodpaster and later to Margaret Dean Merida, both of whom preceded him in death.

Donald was a self-employed truck driver, and served him country having been in the US Army for several years.

Don is survived by sons Ron (Adwina) Carpenter of Sunman, Donald and Charles Carpenter of Osgood; daughter Judy Lear of Milan; stepsons Richard, James, and Martin Dean; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and one great great grandson. He is also survived by sisters Margie McCloud, Mary Howard and Jean Reamer.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 3, at Laws Carr-Moore Funeral Home, Milan with Pastor Mike Addison officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 9-11 a.m. also at the funeral home. Military Rites will be performed by Milan American Legion Post #235. Burial will be in Greendale Cemetery at Osgood. Nancy McAdams, 65, of Milan, passed away Friday, June 26, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, July 1 at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home, Milan. Caroline R. Denning Bennett, 75, of Madison, passed away Friday, June 26, 2015. Funeral services were held Monday, June 29 at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, Madison, with burial in the Olive Branch Cemetery near Madison.
