Gary Franklin
SPORTS EDITOR

Machaela Cobler
Machaela Cobler, a sixth grader at Jac-Cen-Del Elementary and her horse “All About The Tease” better known as Daisy, are planning to head out for Fort Worth, Texas to compete in Appaloosa Youth World Horse Show competition.
Machaela is the daughter of Chad and Kelli Cobler of Napoleon.

As relayed by her mother, “Machaela began riding when she was six years old on ‘Tony the Pony,’ and has been showing horses since she was seven.”

Last year, she was also able to go to the Youth World Show and earned Top Ten in Walk/Trot Western Pleasure with Daisy. This year, the duo are being trained by Jon Bruns from Sunman. Machaela and Daisy spend most weekends showing around the area and in Ohio. They have high hopes for their five classes, which include 10 and under Showmanship, Western Pleasure, Western Horsemanship, Trail and English Equitation.

Daisy is eight years old and has had two foals that will be shown later this year in Texas. An appreciative young lady, Machaela thanks everyone who has supported her, while she has been practicing and raising money for this adventure. Supports include four generous companies sponsoring classes: Dr Angela Scheele, orthodontist; Napoleon State Bank, Discount Boot and Tack, and Randy Herbert, CPA.

Megan Marie Manlief
Megan Marie Manlief is the 12-year-old daughter of Tony and Michelle Manlief of Decatur County, Westport. Megan’s mother reports that Megan made her riding debut when just six months old in the 2003 annual Versailles Pumpkin Show Parade on Sheza Wapiti Kedee, Dam of Ms. Big Time Sierra and granddam of Shadow N Paradise, where she also was pictured in the paper. In May of this year, Megan received a letter informing her that she had placed eighth in the Nation in the Hunter Under Saddle – 12 & under Class, along with an invitation to attend the awards presentation at the Appaloosa Youth World Show in Fort Worth, Texas the last week of June.

The decision was made to make the trip along with “Shadow N Paradise” and compete while there in five classes of which include Western Horsemanship – 12 & under, English Showmanship 13 & Under, Hunt Seat Equitation 12 & Under, Hunter Under Saddle – 12 & Under and Youth Hunter In Hand Geldings. They have high hopes for their five classes which include 10 and under Showmanship, Western Pleasure, Western Horsemanship, Trail and English Equitation. This marks the second time Megan will be at Fort Worth, Texas, as at 8 months of age she attended with her mother who showed “Ms Big Time” finishing ninth in a field of 19. They thank all for the positive support and encouragement shown to Megan on her journey.
