Milan Indian Boys Varsity Tennis
Team battles onward, upward: Senior Josh Bixler honored

Gary Franklin
SPORTS EDITOR

Hard-working, lone-senior Josh Bixler will be missed in next year’s program as the Milan Indians boys tennis season draws near its finale. Coach Zach Wade and his Tribe paid tribute honoring senior Bixler at a home-hosted match against East Central on September 23. The match resulted in an 0-5 loss to EC. Previous recent matches found Milan falling to Franklin County 0-5 at FCHS on Sept. 16; however, Coach noted, “The one lone bright spot was #1 JV doubles winning 8-3 (Clayde Ascherman and Dalton Messer).”

A tough 2-3 road loss befell the Indians on Tuesday, Sept. 8, against Oldenburg Academy as well. Milan High School winners included Brent Quatman at #2 singles and #1 doubles team of Josh Bixler and Peyton Cann. Milan JV won 2-0 with Dalton Messer at singles along with the doubles duo of Isaac Rosenbarger and Hunter Holten. Milan High School Boys Varsity Tennis fell to Southwestern Hanover Rebels 1-4 on Thursday, Sept. 3 at SwHHS.

Game Recap
Lone tribal winner was a straight set match by Jordan Burton. The doubles team of Josh Bixler and Peyton Cann lost a hard fought 3 set match. The Indian JV won their contest with winners included as Dalton Messer at singles and Jon Becker and Hunter Holton at doubles. The Tribe is slated for 2015 IHSAA Boys Sectional Tennis action hosted at South Dearborn High School. Check with Milan High School for dates and times of slated tribe tennis action.
