Local swimmer receives prestigious scholarship award


Cameron Michael Nichols, Batesville, participated in the 33rd Annual Southwestern Ohio High School Swimming and Diving Classic and was awarded the 2016 Southwestern Ohio Swimming Association “Friends of the Classic” Scholarship. The swim meet is the largest high school swim meet in the United States spread out over 10 pool locations with more than 2,900 swimmers and close to 150 divers from more than 100 schools in the Sw District of Ohio participating.

The SWOSA “Friends of the Classic” Foundation awards a college scholarship to six outstanding seniors (3 men/ 3 women) who have competed in the Classic during their high school years while exemplifying the highest standards in sportsmanship, academic achievement, community service and outstanding leadership. Nominated by their coaches, teachers, school administrators, community leaders, and teammates, Cameron was 1 of 3 selected to receive this prestigious award.

Cameron has been a member of the Varsity Liquid Lancer Swim Team for 4 years and swims for Coach Mike Lienhart, and he’s also a member of USA Swimming and a member of the MIST Swim Team where he swims for Coach David Baugh. Cameron formerly attended St. Louis Catholic School and currently is a senior at LaSalle High School in Cincinnati. He is the son of Michael and Linda Nichols. Congratulations Cameron and continued success!
