William Oran Heidorn


William Oran Heidorn, 81, of Osgood, was born May 9, 1934 in Versailles. He was the son of the late Oran and Isabella Curry Heidorn. He married Charlene K. Weber on September 30, 1961 and she preceded him in death in 2003. On Saturday evening, February 20, 2016, with family by his side, Bill quietly passed away at Ripley Crossing in Milan.

Bill had been a very dedicated and hard working employee for Joseph E. Seagram’s & Sons having worked there for nearly forty years retiring in 1990.
He loved taking care of his animals, which included his dogs, cows and some horses. Building bird houses along with other small building projects were favorite pass times.

Survivors include daughters: Lori Heidorn of Brookville and Rebecca Snyder of West Harrison; brother: Gary (Susie) Heidorn of Michigan City; 10 grandchildren: Chad, Tiffany, Jamie, Dustin, Chris, Josh, Kyle, Corey, Sarah and Kayla; and many great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Kim Heidorn; one daughter, Paula Riley and one brother, Robert Heidorn. Memorial services will be held all in the same day, Thursday, February 25 at Neal’s Funeral Home, Osgood. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. with a memorial service following at 7 p.m. Memorials may be given to the Ripley County Humane Society or St. Jude’s c/o funeral home. Neal’s Funeral Home, Osgood, is entrusted with arrangements.


Mary Opal Scott

Mary Opal Scott, 85, of Dillsboro, passed away Sunday, February 21, 2016 at Dearborn County Hospital. Mary Opal was preceded in death by her husband Robert “Bobby” Scott, her parents, Maude and William Elder, and four brothers and four sisters.

She is survived by five children, Dan (Sharon) Scott, Gary (Gayla) Scott, Kathy (Fred) Niebrugge, Rob Scott, Peggi (Mark) LaGreca; six grandchildren, Chrissy (Doug) Heller, Michele (Brian) Roth, Ronnie (Aliesha) Niebrugge, Stacy (Sam) McConnell, Zach (Sara) Scott, and Tyler Scott; along with 12 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers, Bill, Vernon, and Larry Elder.

Mary Opal loved her family being around her all the time. She loved listening to her “boys” play music. She also loved gardening, quilting and sitting on her front porch. She is very much loved and will be missed every day.

Funeral services will be Friday, February 26 at 3 p.m. at DeVries Funeral Home in Dillsboro, with the elders from the Jehovah’s Witnesses officiating. Interment will be at the Oakdale Cemetery in Dillsboro. Friends may meet her family on Friday from 2-3 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Jehovah’s Witnesses. Filter DeVries Funeral Home, Dillsboro, is entrusted with arrangements.


Alma Jean (Wainscott) Farris-Rayburn


Alma Jean (Wainscott) Farris-Rayburn, 88, of Vevay, passed away Sunday, February 21, 2016. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 24, at 11 a.m. at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, Vevay. Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 23 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Gideon’s International Memorial Bible Program. Cards are available at the funeral home. Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, Vevay, is in charge of arrangements.


Lenard Earl McRoberts

Lenard Earl McRoberts, 74, of North Vernon, passed away Thursday, February 18, 2016. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, February 23 at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, Feb. 23 from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in the Zenas Cemetery in Zenas.
