Miss HomeStreet Bank / Miss Madison wins Indiana Governor’s Cup

How better to complement the celebration of a Fourth of July week (especially if you’re a Madison, Indiana, resident) than on the bank of the Ohio River watching your hometown supported hydroplane entry take the checkered flag for the 2016 MainSource Bank Indiana Governor’s Cup presented by Belterra Casino Resort, race to victory during the finals of the 66th annually held Madison Regatta!

Pictured above left is 2nd place finisher J. Michael Kelly of Team Porter Racing I, owned U-5 Graham Trucking, entry finishing at 130.854, and at right, the 3rd place finals finisher Brian Perkins, pilot of the Go Fast Turn Left Racing and owned U-21 PayneWest Insurance, entry at 124.311.

That was exactly what many race enthusiasts did on the rainy (less than beautiful by every sense of the word other than the victory) Sunday, July 3, as hometown U-1 Miss HomeStreet Bank/Miss Madison pilot Jimmy Shane left his mark of pride on the festivities with the Indiana Governor’s Cup victory.
This year’s race-shortened victory was earned as during the final lap of a five lap race Finals, Cal Phipp’s flipped the U-27 Dalton Industries entry near the Madison-Milton Bridge. With more than three laps having been completed and headed home, the race was official.
