IHSAA Class 2A 2017-2018 South Ripley Raiders

The 2017-18 South Ripley Raider Varsity basketball program behind Head Coach Travis Wrightsman in his 10th year holds a record of 128 Wins to 85 losses as Raider Head Coach and over his 17 year career stands at 259-142. Coach Wrightsman is seconded by former JV Coach Brad Samples. Raiders returning as seniors are: Dillan McQueen (35), Zach Pickett (20), Avery Halcomb (34) and Cory Welch (15). Returning following last season's injury in a role as a bench leader among SR seniors is Jacob Moore.

The Raider Varsity enlists no juniors, but finds sophomores: Aaron Greiwe (5), Sam Evans (25) and Eric Vickers (40) with a solid group of freshmen stepping up in: Cody Samples (11), Bryce Franklin (10) and Brady Linkel (32).

At press time the Varsity Raiders had claimed 60-51 annual "Turkey Shootout" victory over the rival Jac-Cen-Del Eagles at JCDHS, where they defended their possession of the "Ripley Publishing Co. Inc. Traveling Pride Trophy". A second SR varsity boys game win in November came following their road action over the Rising Sun Shiners on the the 25th by a final count of 67-57 over RS. The South Ripley Raider JV finds a new lead with the stepping away of Coach Brad Samples to varsity assistant coaching duties in Paul Badgley, with Curtis Stephen the JV Assistant Coach.

The JV team includes Junior: Kendall Stephen (15), Sophomores: Connor McCarty (20), Jon Adkins (5) and Sam Evans (34), joined by Freshmen: Brady Linkel (32), Colby Bush (52), Jordan Pelfrey (25), Simon Westmeier (11) and Dillon Binion (10).
