January 28 JCDHS at Union County High School

The Eagles varsity lost the services of 6'9" junior center Conner Hubbard (44) due to what appeared to be a season ending injury, requiring a cast following the basketball game against hosting Union County. An already battle-tattered and struggling senior-less Eagles Varsity Team found even more devastation forced on them with the absence of the big guy in the middle.

As of the scheduled Eagles battle against Switzerland County Pacers on Friday evening, Feb. 17, Hubbard will return to the JCD lineup. The Eagles suffered another varsity loss during his absence, as they trekked to Rising Sun to face the Shiners on Tuesday evening, February 14; however, the JCD JV under Coach Brad Goldsberry enjoyed the feel of victory as they held on to defeat the hosting Shiners.

On Friday night, Feb. 10, as Coach Brian Samples and the South Ripley Lady Raiders were resting in Paoli in preparation for Regional action on Saturday morning, Coach Wrightsman and the Raider boys were battling against the South Dearborn Knights, first on their agenda, before joining up with the crew in support of the girls. Varsity action found a hot-handed senior Cory Walker setting the pace, competing to a 22 point game of the 56 total South Ripley would score for the game. Joining Walker in double figure scoring column entries were junior teammates Zach Pickett with 11 points and Dillan McQueen with 10. Sipple with a 16 point output in the varsity game and teammate Tedesco with 10 accounted for double-digit Knight scoring. See game stats on page 5 of The Versailles Republican.
