A doubly good weekend…
SR Lady Raiders claim road victory over Southwestern Hanover Rebels

Gary Franklin
SPORTS EDITOR

Following their long bus ride on Friday, Nov. 20, to battle Christian Academy of Indiana, New Albany, where South Ripley Lady Raiders Varsity won 61 to 37, the basketball teams were back on the bus and headed South to Southwestern Hanover on Saturday, Nov. 21. This trek ended positively as well for varsity players with a 57-24 win over the Lady Rebels. This is the fourth victory under their belts and better because the ride home was much shorter. The recent double victories were a welcomed resolve, after the rough season loss against rival Jac-Cen-Del at JCD High School, which was followed by victories over both the Batesville Lady Bulldogs and the Lawrenceburg Lady Tigers. South Ripley may have taken one lump, but they are definitely not poised to take more. Varsity action resulted in a significant Raider out-scoring of their Lady Rebel opponents to a final count of 57-24 over the balance of regulation play.

Individual Lady Raiders Scoring
Kiley Sparks: 18
Toria Tucker: 12
Julia Rea: 7
Elexah Roepke: 7

Leading scorers for the Lady Rebels were Mahoney, Ralston and Griffin with 4 each toward the team total of 24 points. Lady Raider varsity are at 4-1 in their new season. Action at Southwestern Hanover resulted in a more favorable outcome for the Lady Raiders JV, as they were able to walk away with one point advantage, 34-33. The 34 Lady Raider points reported by Head Lady Raiders Coach Kevin Mack, noted that SR scorers included Hannah Schwarte 10, Elexah Roepke 10, Jillian Scott 4, Cady Garcia 4, Mackenzie Black 4 and Autumn Schmaltz 2. Leading the Southwestern Hanover Lady Rebels in scoring was Ralston with 14 points of their 33 point total.
