Thomas Estil Holman

Thomas Estil Holman, 75, Sharpsville, passed away at 8:30 p.m. Sunday, November 22, 2015 at Indiana University Hospital in Tipton. He was born March 13, 1940 in Milan, to Thomas and Roberta (Sipple) Holman. He married his wife Evelyn Borchelt on May 31, 1969 in Batesville.

Tom was a mechanic for the Indiana State Highway Dept for 23 years. He was a member of the Sharpsville United Methodist Church, the Elks Lodge in Tipton and the Lions Club in Sharpsville.

Surviving family include his wife Evelyn Holman, Sharpsville; two children, Craig (Heather) Holman of Sharpsville; and Erin (Ben) Buckles of Granger; one sister, Saralee (Guy) Cumberworth of Holton; and one brother, Jackie Corey of Saudi Arabia; grandchildren Toby, Aaron, Maggie and Lorna Holman and Henry and Bryn Buckles. He is also survived by several brothers and sisters-in-law and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Virginia Holman and two brothers, Ralph and Nelson Holman.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 28 at Sharpsville United Methodist Church with Pastor Mandy Gould officiating. Burial followed at Sharpsville Cemetery. Boyer Funeral Home in Sharpsville was in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be sent to the family at

William J. Wagner

William J. Wagner, 89, Osgood, was born July 12, 1926 in Osgood. He was the son of the late Fred and Dorothea Strang Wagner. He married Wanda Lee White April 10, 1948 and she preceded him in death on May 30, 2003.

Bill was a WW II Navy Veteran. He belonged to the William A. Gilland American Legion Post #267, was a member of the Masonic Lodge #603, a past Boy Scout scout master, plus he served as an executive committee member of the Boy Scout Troop #638 all of Osgood. In the earlier part of his life, he was co-owner and operator of the RC Bottling Company that had been located in Osgood. Along with his many accomplishments, he proudly served as the Ripley County Treasurer from 1980 to 1988. He was a member of St. Peter’s UN Church of Christ “Finks” of Osgood. As you can see, Bill loved his country and especially his community. On Monday morning, November 30, 2015 with family by his side, he quietly passed away at Ripley Crossing in Milan

Survivors include sons, William L. (Cathy) Wagner of Osgood and Roger L. (Kathy) Wagner of Batesville; four grandchildren, Vincent, Justin, Joshua Wagner and Karisa Rauch; and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles “Bud” Frederick and James Edward Wagner.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 2 at 5-8 p.m. at Neal’s Funeral Home, Osgood. Funeral services will be Thursday, December 3, at 10 a.m. at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ “Finks” near Osgood. He will lie in state from 9 a.m. until the funeral. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Memorials may be given to the church cemetery. Neal’s Funeral Home, Osgood, is entrusted with arrangements.
