Helen Peck

Helen Peck, 95, of Versailles passed away at 10 a.m., Friday, December 2, 2016, at her home. She was born near Elrod on May 7, 1921, the daughter of Chris and Pauline Hallforth Voss. She was married to Willis Peck on June 24, 1939 and he preceded her in death on May 18, 2002.

Survivors include two daughters, Donna (Dwight) Hooton of Versailles, and Linda (Don) Lostutter of Hanover; one son, George (Julie) Peck of Greensburg; 10 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and one great great grandson. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and her brothers Estol Voss and Don Voss.

Mrs. Peck was a 1939 graduate of Milan High School. She was employed with Ripley Publishing in Versailles for 23 years where she served as Editor of the Osgood Journal. She also worked for 13 years as an administrator for the Ripley County Red Cross. Helen was a 71-year member of the Versailles Baptist Church where she sang in the choir, held many offices, participated in the Shining Lights social group, and was a member of the ABWM. She was a 52-year member of the Osgood-Versailles Order of the Eastern Star, a member of the local home economics club, and a member of the Versailles-Osgood Wednesday afternoon bridge club. Helen was a charter member of Chi Phi Gamma, a scholastic sorority of Milan High School.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 6 at 10:30 a.m. at the Versailles Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Cantrell officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Sinai Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Versailles Baptist Church in care of Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home, Versailles.


Joyce E. Armstrong Ashby

Joyce E. Armstrong Ashby, age 79, of Madison, died on Wednesday, November 30, 2016. Funeral services were held Monday, December 5 at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, Madison. Interment was in the Fairmount Cemetery in Madison. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fairmount Cemetery Association or the North Madison Christian Church. Dallas “Wayne” Turner, of Milan, passed away on November 17, 2016. Services will be held Friday, Dec. 9 at 1 p.m. at Hogan Hills Church and Cemetery, Moores Hill. Woodlawn Cremations & Funeral Service were entrusted with services. www.woodlawncremations.com.

Infant Lucas John Smith, 1 month 15 days old, passed Thursday, December 1, 2016. Lucas was the son of Johnnie Smith Jr. and Melissa Sowders.
