Local man arrested for Lawrenceburg bank robbery

An Osgood man has been arrested for the robbery of a Lawrenceburg bank last week. Randy Scott Bryant, Jr., 29, was arrested Wednesday night at a traffic stop at N. Dearborn Road on charges of a level five felony, conspiracy to commit a robbery, theft, a level 6 felony, and possession of paraphernalia, a misdemeanor. A habitual offender charge was also filed by the Dearborn Ohio Prosecutor’s Office based on his prior criminal history.

Pictured is Randy Scott Bryant, Jr., 29, of Osgood. He has been arrested in connection with the robbery at a Lawrenceburg bank.

The U.S. Bank on Walnut Street was held up by a man around 12:40 Wednesday afternoon. The suspect did not show a weapon, but passed a note and got away with an undisclosed amount of money, according to Lawrenceburg Police Dept. Detective Jeremy Shepherd. Surveillance photos helped identify the suspect. Shepherd said tips flooded into the office, and he commented that in his 20 years of detective work the security video/photo was the best he’d seen. The bank offered up to a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect.

Bryant has a criminal past and served prison time for drugs, theft and probation violations. He had apparently just got off of house arrest before this incident happened. The Lawrenceburg Police Dept. received assistance in the investigation from the Dearborn County Sheriff’s Department, the Dearborn County Special Crimes Unit, the Greendale and Aurora police, and the Indiana Gaming Commission.
