Sherry L. Evans


Sherry L. Evans, 78, of Dillsboro, passed away at 5:15 p.m. Monday, January 16, 2017 at the Dillsboro Manor. She was born in Cincinnati on December 11, 1938, the daughter of Deo and Elsie Clark Goodin. She was married to Frank Evans on June 7, 1958 and he preceded her in death on February 23, 2000.

Survivors include three sons, Mark (Laura) Evans of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Jeff (Christy) Evans of Dillsboro, and Brian (Melanie) Evans of Benham; one daughter, Michelle Hountz and her fiancé Denny Bushhorn of Napoleon; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild; six brothers, Donald (Bernice) Goodin of Cedar Grove, Tom (Nora) Goodin of Greendale, Kenneth (Pam) Goodin of Brookville, Michael (Teresa) Goodin of Dandridge, Tennessee, Jim Goodin of Harrison, Ohio, and Frank Goodin of Cedar Grove; three sisters, Cathy (Huston) Bolser of Cedar Grove, Margie (Steve) Clark of West Harrison, and Dian (Fred) Hubbard of Bright; sister-in-law, Rosie Goodin of West Harrison. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Charles Goodin.

Mrs. Evans was a 1956 graduate of Whitewater High School in Franklin County. She was a former employee of the Palm Beach Suit Company in Newport, Kentucky and had also worked for Krogers in Lawrenceburg. Sherry’s main occupation though was raising her children and helping Frank on the farm. Her hobbies included doing needlework and reading through what her children described as a collection of nearly a thousand books!

Funeral services for Sherry will be held on Friday, January 20 at 11 a.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Bro. Logan Fugate of the Cross Plains Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in the Craven Cemetery near Milan. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-8 p.m. Memorials may be given to the Ripley County Relay for Life or the Craven Cemetery in care of the funeral home.


Cheryl Kegley

Cheryl Kegley, 57, of Versailles, passed away January 10, 2017 at her home. She was born in Elliotsville in Rowan County, Kentucky on June 13, 1959, the daughter of Lovirdia and Betty Trent Kegley.

Survivors include her son, Eric Kegley of Versailles; one grandson, Ely Kegley; two sisters, Patty Akers of Somerset, Kentucky and Sharon Keith of Versailles; one brother, Leighton Kegley of North Vernon. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Mike Kegley, and her sister Helen.
She was a former employee of US Shoe in Osgood.

Cheryl’s wishes were to be cremated and there were no services. The Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles was in charge of arrangements.
