Robin Lee Demaree

Robin Lee Demaree, age 56, of Canaan, entered this life on August 5, 1961 in Batesville. He was the loving son of the late Virgil and Reta Steele Demaree. He was raised in Ripley County and was a 1979 graduate of South Ripley High School. He attended Ivy Tech for welding later in life.

On August 22, 1981 Robin was united in marriage to Melissa Ann Brawner at the St. Anthony Catholic Church at China, Indiana. This happy union of 36 years was blessed with two daughters, Alyssa and Katie and a son, Travis. He was employed with the Madison Consolidated School System for 30 years and retired in February 2017 as the head bus mechanic. He was currently employed in sales with Advance Auto in Madison.

Robin enjoyed farming, working, fixing cars, tinkering, camping, helping his friends, and always being the extra set of hands for his wife the principal of Ryker’s Ridge Elementary. His greatest joy were his children and you never met Robin that he didn’t have a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye. He was dedicated to helping anyone where ever needed. Robin fought a courageous brief battle with cancer.

Robin died on Tuesday, November 28, 2017, at 1:46 p.m. at the Norton Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky with his loving wife at his side. Robin will be missed by his loving wife of 36 years, Melissa Ann “Missy” Brawner Demaree of Canaan; his loving daughters, Alyssa Demaree Shelton and her husband, Danny of Canaan, Katie Demaree and her significant other, Alex Gardner of Canaan; his loving son, Travis Demaree of Canaan; his brother, Carl Demaree and his wife, Sandy of Madison; his sister, Evie Sanders and her husband, Mike of Versailles; his brothers in law, Mike Brawner and his wife, Becky of Canaan, David Brawner and his wife, Jessica of Madison; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his father, Virgil Demaree, his mother, Reta Steele Demaree, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Larry and Beverly Gray Brawner.

Funeral Mass was celebrated Monday, December 4 by Father Christopher A. Craig at the St. Patrick Catholic Chapel, in Madison. Interment followed in the St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery in China. A Masonic service was held Sunday by Canaan Masonic Lodge No. 581 F. & A.M. at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre. Memorial contributions may be made to The Robin Demaree Remembrance Fund for Ryker’s Ridge Elementary. Cards are available at the funeral home and the church. Lorraine Gridley, age 73, of Napoleon, passed away on Thursday, November 30, 2017. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, December 5 at Meyers Funeral Home in Batesville. Donald G. Black

Donald G. Black, 89, of Dillsboro, passed away Wednesday, November 29, 2017. Funeral services were held Saturday, December 2, at the Dillsboro United Methodist Church. Burial was in Oakdale Cemetery, Dillsboro. Memorials may be made to the church, Dillsboro Life Squad or the Hospice of South Central Indiana.
