David E. Black

David E. Black, age 76, of Okeana, passed away on Sunday, July 16, 2017. He was born on July 22, 1940 in Switzerland County, to the late Ernest and Margaret Black. On August 26, 1961 he married Rita Obendorf.

David is survived by his beloved wife, Rita; devoted daughters and their husbands, Denise (Ray) Casteel and Diane (Doug) Meece; adored granddaughters, Anna Elisabeth and Cassidy Grace. He is also survived by his siblings, Del Thayer, Richard (Mary) Black, Roger (Terry) Black, Phyllis (Harold) Taylor, and Marilyn (Jerry) Wisher; sisters-in-law, Judy Black, Donna (Wayne) Roach, and Barbara (Donnie) Eades; brothers in law, Ralph (Kay) Obendorf and Paul (Cheryll) Obendorf; numerous nieces, nephews, family members, and friends. David is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Harold Black.

Visitation will be Thursday July 20 from 5-7 p.m. at the Avance Funeral Home and Crematory, 4976 Winton Rd., Fairfield, OH 45014. Funeral services will be Friday July 21 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, 5869 South State Rd., Versailles, IN 47042. Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

Memorial contributions may be offered to the following; Via Quest Hospice, University of Cincinnati Medical Center Neurology Research, Augsburg Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, and St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund. Condolences may be offered at www.avancefuneralhome.com.
