Lillie M. Magner Falch

Lillie M. Magner Falch, 88, of Cross Plains, passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at Dearborn County Hospital in Lawrenceburg. She was born in Cincinnati on September 6, 1929, the daughter of Dave Bates and Pearlie McIntosh Carra. She was married to Melvin Magner on August 28, 1948 and he preceded her in death on December 17, 1993. She then married Carl Falch on October 22, 1994 and he preceded her in death on September 30, 2009.
Other survivors include two sons, Michael (Pam Burnett) Magner of Cross Plains and Keith (Becky) Magner of Cincinnati; four daughters, Karen Philip (Kenny Riddell) of Cross Plains, Carolyn Polly of Lawrenceburg, Tresa Kirby (Ron Wolfe) and Tammy Houston (Kevin Shea) of Cincinnati; 16 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her two brothers Rudolph Bates and Woodrow Bates, and three sisters Allie Miller, Beatrice Head and Ruby Done.

Mrs. Falch retired as a seamstress from Ficks Reed Furniture Company. Lillie was a member of the Bear Creek Baptist Church in Friendship, and the Legion and AmVets Auxiliary.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, January 9 at the Bear Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Sherman Hughes officiating. Burial was in the Spring Grove Cemetery in Cincinnati. Memorials may be given to the Bear Creek Baptist Church in care of the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home, Versailles.

Jason L. Kemker

Jason L. Kemker, 46, of Milan, passed away Sunday, January 7, 2018 at his home. Jason was born September 1, 1971 at Greensburg, the son of William and Sherry (Warner) Kemker.

Jason attended Milan First Baptist Church and also went to his weekly Wednesday mental health meetings in Batesville to help people out. He enjoyed working at the New Horizons in Batesville. Jason’s hobbies were fishing, working on cars and helping out the local farmers.

Jason is survived by his father: William Kemker of Milan; mother: Sherry Wade of KS; brother: Justin (Erica) Kemker of Indianapolis; sisters: Candy Shadday (Kenny McConnell) of Versailles; Betina (Jared) Rader of Vevay; grandmother: Elaine Kemker of Milan; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by sister: Stacey Erdman and grandfather: Lee Kemker.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements, Box 243 Milan, In 47031. 812-654-2141.

Larry Lothridge

Larry Lothridge, 72 of Versailles, passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2018. Visitation will be held Friday, January 12 from 12-2 p.m. with funeral services immediately following at Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles. Burial will be in the Green Cemetery near Dillsboro. Memorials may be given to donor’s choice in care of the funeral home.

Wanda LaVerne Shook

Wanda LaVerne Shook, 77, of Benham, passed away at 12:45 a.m., Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at Aspen Place Health Campus in Greensburg. She was born in the family home in Canaan on November 26, 1940, the daughter of Harold and Robena Cole Ferris. She was married to Harold “Tony” Shook on March 6, 1961 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Olean and he preceded her in death on July 11, 2012.

Other survivors include one son, Michael (Debby) Shook of Milhousen; three daughters, Theresa (Kevin Dale) Shook-Elza of Versailles, Julie (Robert) McConnell of Sunman, Amanda (Ronald) Lawson of Benham; seven grandchildren Bobbie Lynn Shook, Amy Jo Shook, Mika Sue Shook, Ashley Elza, Zachary Elza, Roger Lee McConnell and Iva Marie McConnell; six great grandchildren; two sisters Connie Bentley of Madison, Penny Jo Brim of Canaan; sister-in-law Eleanor Ferris of Canaan. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her brother Gale Ferris; two brothers-in-law Donald Bentley and Danny Brim.

Mrs. Shook was a 1958 graduate of Central High School in Madison. Wanda was a member of the Benham United Methodist Church, the Benham Blue Bells, UMC women, Versailles Eastern Star and numerous Card Clubs. Her grandchildren loved her baking and especially her yeast rolls.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 6 at the Benham United Methodist Church with Jerry Brooks officiating. Burial was in the Benham Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Benham Cemetery in care of the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home, Versailles.
