Dana M. Montgomery

Dana M. Montgomery, 47, of Aurora, passed away Saturday, January 20, 2018 at the Dearborn County Hospital in Lawrenceburg. She was born at Madison on March 31, 1970, the daughter of Donald and Ola Vae Roark Simon. She was married to Mark Montgomery on July 9, 2005 and he survives. Other survivors include one daughter, Tiffany Barrett of Aurora; one son, Nelson Montgomery of Aurora; one grandson, Cooper Alan Burst; her in-laws William and Linda Montgomery of Franklin and George and Joyce Wonnell of Greensburg; three brothers, James (Cindy) Simon, Wayne (Brenda) Simon, and Vincent (Kelli) Simon all of Osgood; four sisters, Karen (James) Dyer of Greensburg, Shirley (Darren) Hornberger of Osgood, Donna (Lonnie) Sparks of Holton, and Barbie (Ryan) Bultman of Greensburg; brothers and sisters-in-law, Steve and Terri Hake of Aurora, Leeann and George Bayne of Greensburg, and William Montgomery, Jr. of Aurora, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her niece Chelsa Simon.

Mrs. Montgomery was a 1988 graduate of Jac-Cen-Del High School and received her LPN degree from Ivy Tech. She worked as an LPN at the Heritage House of Greensburg for 15 years, retiring in 2012 due to health reasons. Dana enjoyed her time with her large family and for fun she enjoyed visiting the riverboats, playing euchre, and bingo.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 25 at 11 a.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles. Dana’s brother-in-law, Lonnie Sparks will officiate the service. Burial will be in the Hogan Hill Cemetery at Moores Hill. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the donor’s choice in care of the funeral home.


Mary Jane Barth

Mary Jane Barth, 78, of Dillsboro, passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2018. Funeral serviced were held Monday January 22 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Dillsboro. Naomi Gress, 51, of Aurora, passed away Saturday, January 20, 2018. A memorial service will be at 8 p.m. Wednesday, January 24 at the Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home in Milan. Howard Francis Barlow, 88, of Dillsboro, passed away Thursday, January 18, 2018. Funeral services were held Saturday, January 20 at Filter-DeVries-Moore Funeral Home. Dolores Mae (Smith) Strassell


Dolores Mae (nee: Smith) Strassell, 86, beloved wife of the late Walter John Strassell, co-owner and founder of Walter J. Strassell and Sons Greenhouse, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 surrounded by family. Dolores was a member of the St. Pius Catholic Church. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, flowers, cooking, baking and making a doll for each grandchild. Her greatest passion was her family in which she loved dearly.

Dolores is survived by her beloved children: Pamela (Ed) Shannon, Lois (Gary) Smith, Paul (Carol) Strassell, John (Nancy) Strassell, Mark (Shari) Strassell, Mary (John) Browning, James (Kim) Strassell, Donna (Jim) VanCleave, Robert (Beth) Strassell, Diana Schilling, Lisa (Bobby) Davis and her sister Marjorie (Bruce) Kramer. Also left to honor and remember her love, are 33 grandchildren and 53 great grandchildren Dolores is preceded in death by her parents, her dear sister: Alice and Ann and her grandson Paul Joseph Strassell.

Funeral mass was held Saturday, January 20 at St. Pius Catholic Church north of Milan with Father Frank Eckstein officiating. Burial followed in St. Pius Cemetery. Leona E. Watson

Leona E. Watson, 93, of Columbus, formerly of Osgood, passed away at 1 p.m., Friday, January 19, 2018 at the Hospice of South Central Indiana in Columbus. She was born near Pleasant in Switzerland County on April 13, 1924, the daughter of Ulys and Bessie McFarland Spencer. She was married to Clint Watson on August 21, 1940 and he preceded her in death on March 1, 2011.

Survivors include one daughter Ann Johnson of Columbus; three sons Clark (Franka) Watson of Sentinel, Oklahoma, Paul (Karen) Watson of Dillsboro, and Norman (Karen) Watson of Pell City, Alabama; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her brother Roy Spencer, and her sisters Norma Lee Leap and Pearl Herring.

Mrs. Watson retired from US Shoe in Osgood. Leona was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Versailles of which she and Clint were founding members. She was also a member of the Osgood-Versailles Eastern Star.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 23 at 1 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Carter Corbrey officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Cemetery. Visitation will also be on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until time of services. The Eastern Star will conduct services at 1 p.m. Tuesday, immediately before the funeral. Memorials may be given to the First Southern Baptist Church in care of the funeral home.
