Kim W. Tunny

Kim W. Tunny, 63, Versailles, passed away at 10:40 p.m. Friday, December 25, 2015, at his home. He was born at the Margaret Mary Community Hospital in Batesville on February 6, 1952, the son of Charles and Connie Payne Tunny. He was married to Kelly Decker on March 7, 1999 and she survives.

Other survivors include two daughters Kerri Smith and Brandi Carroll both of Delaware; eight grandchildren; two brothers Greg (Vickie) Tunny of Osgood and John Tunny of Columbus; one sister Sandra Ditka of Columbus; also his mother-in-law Betty Decker of Wilmington, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Nicholas who was killed in action in Vietnam.

Mr. Tunny was a graduate of Jac-Cen-Del High School and 30-year member of Pipefitters Local 597. Kim was an adventurer who enjoyed skydiving and was also a skilled carpenter who did extensive woodworking. His greatest contribution to his friends and family was his belief in the power of prayer and his willingness to share his faith with all those who knew and loved him. Kim was a member of the St. John Catholic Church in Osgood.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 31 at St. John Catholic Church in Osgood with Father Bill Turner officiating. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. on Thursday at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rosary services at 10:15 a.m. Kim’s wishes were to be cremated and burial will follow at a later date at the St. Maurice Cemetery in Napoleon. Memorials may be given to the donor’s choice in care of the funeral home.


Branch Howard III

Branch Howard, III, 56, West Alexandria, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly, Thursday December 24, 2015, at his residence. He was born in Madison on July 15, 1959 to Branch and Nancy (Carson) Howard.

Branch was a graduate of South Ripley High School in Versailles. He had attended Sinclair College. He owned and operated Howard Electric for over 30 years. He was a member of Farmersville United Methodist Church. Mr. Howard was an avid golfer and hunter and loved to ride his Harley.

He is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Victoria (Ballinger) Howard; and loving daughter, Hayden Ashley Howard; two brothers, Gale (Sandy) Howard, and Johnny Howard; father, Branch (Gladys) Howard; and mother, Nancy Swingle, all of Versailles; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Glen Swingle.

Memorial services will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 23, 2016, at Farmersville United Methodist Church, 110 W. Center St., Farmersville, Ohio 45325. Evelyn “Johnnie” G. Gayheart

Evelyn “Johnnie” G. Gayheart, 92, Batesville, passed away Monday, December 28, 2015 at her home. Services will be held all in one day, Wednesday, Dec. 30 at Neal’s Funeral Home in Osgood. Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m., with funeral services immediately following. Burial will be in the Grigsby Cemetery in Delaware. Neal’s Funeral Home, Osgood, is entrusted with arrangements.


Dorothy J. Levell

Dorothy J. Levell, 80, Versailles, passed away Saturday, December 19, 2015 at the Christ Hospital in Cincinnati. She was born near Shelbyville on February 21, 1935, the daughter of Charles and Anna Stafford Bartlett. She was married to Edward Levell on November 25, 1952 and he preceded her in death on December 9, 2006.

Survivors include four sons, Kelly (Lorna) Levell and Bradley Levell both of Batesville, Jeff Levell of Versailles, and Duane (Jamie) Levell of Dillsboro; one daughter, Denise (Warren) Bates of Versailles:13 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her son Edward Marshel Lovell II, and 12 brothers and sisters.

Mrs. Levell was a homemaker and a former member and president of the Napoleon VFW. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, and had been a long time collector of salt and pepper shakers.

Dorothy’s wishes were to be cremated. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 2, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Flat Rock Baptist Church near Osgood with Ray West officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Memorials may be given to the Flat Rock Baptist Church or cemetery in care of the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home, Versailles.
